To Chris Fore: The second round of interviews were held at the diocese office on Feb. 6 because that was a school holiday and the campus was closed, and nobody from the diocese was part of the interview team. There was nothing sinister in that move. |

on another board I found myself getting lambasted for stating that the eventual hire would be someone who either played at or coached at MD-and more than likely would be a practicing Catholic. Called a racist (the guy was adamant that the next coaching hire be black). Mentioned to that fool that he had no understanding of how MD, and the football program in particular, worked.
Hope that moron gets it now...

But there has also never been a Trinity League head football coach who was a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddhist, an Australian aborigine, a lesbian, an Eskimo, a Satanist, a Nazi, a Martian or a tranny. Hitting closer to home for you, there has also never been a head coach who was a midget or a hobbit. So what's your point? While there was plenty of ridiculous speculation on TOB (I took a peek) on the Mater Dei head coaching decision, it does seem like an awfully drawn out process to settle on an internal promotion in the end.
Don't know Frank McManus and have no opinion. In any case, best of luck to him..

We didn't have a single black coach during those years. However, maybe that's understandable, since we didn't have a single black player either. And that was well after the leather helmet days. |
