Sondheimer speculates in the LA Times about Bishop Gorman playing in the Trinity League for all sports. IMHO it makes sense, and the distances are something that schools in states like Arizona and Texas deal with all the time. I also suspect that the existing TL schools wouldn't mind a road trip to Vegas every other year for football.
He gave reasons why it wouldn't happen (CIF bylaws, NIAA resistance)-but if the $$$ is right and the NIAA schools wanted them out-then by all means.

From a purely competitive standpoint, Mater Dei, Bosco, Cen10 and Gorman would be one heck of a regional football league, and maybe a segue into a national playoff down the road.
I don't think any of the other 4 Trinity schools could compete with them, but definitely would with the rest of the higher end programs. Allowing those top 4 teams to compete at the national / regional level would certainly make for a more interesting tournament for the remaining D1 teams. When 2 teams have dominated by such a wide margin for a decade, and look to continue that way for the foreseeable future, it can't help but contribute to the lack of interest we're currently witnessing.

just maybe if we ditch the present business model of HSF and go back to the way it was we would find more interest. just sayin'

There's way too much at stake for the recruitable kids to go back to the "you grew up in neighborhood X so you play at corresponding HS" model. Truth be told, less than 5% of the section schools have multiple athletically driven xfers.
The best kids with Sunday-level aspirations are graduating in December now so they can participate in Spring ball. Private schools don't seem to be allowing that. I also think this NIL stuff will be a lot less of an issue for the vast majority of the top players that aren't QB's, so position players coming in from out of state will figure out there's not a pot of gold waiting for them here in CA.

This could only work for varsity football. Do we really think that the tennis, golf, water polo........ teams will travel 5 hours one-way for a game on a regular basis. This would require kids missing a day of school every time they play Gorman. There are also the travel cost considerations. What about the burden on kids and their families? IMO there are just too many logistical and financial barriers for this to happen, except potentially varsity football.

Like NCAA, there is little financial gain or support for any other sport that doesnt include a pigskin.

Some interesting public schools playing out of state teams this past week, Versailles (Kentucky) edged Warren 40-39 and Capo Valley was in @ Westwood (Arizona) winning on road.

I was a little busy last night and missed the national showdown. It's pretty wild reading all the Chicken Little stuff for about the now #2 team in the nation in the tune-up game for the one that matters next month.

Well, if they join the league, they have no choice.

You get a liquidated damage clause in those contracts? Had a school ask for that recently. Hard no.
