no fan of Rapinoe, but at least she delivers the goods. Hope her and a few of her teammates realize that their country is bigger than the current occupant of the WH-but I doubt they will figure that out. Their country is also bigger than them, but evidently they haven’t figured that out. When you represent your country in an international event the purpose is not to promulgate your own idiosyncratic political views. It’s almost uniquely Hollywood types and a small group of athletes who are narcissistic enough to think it’s about them.............Luca

This is the first US sports championship I can recall that so many people have given it the thumbs down.
This is akin to NFL level post-kneeling dislike.

We sent over a team of prima donas, Bick.
Rolling up the score on a couple of third world countries and then doing a Terrel Owens routine after each goal. Going out of their way to educate us all on their political stances. While overseas. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always researched the opinions of 20 something lesbian soccer players with purple hair before voting. They’re a wealth of insight. The twit who ostentatiously dissed the English soccer team after scoring a goal.............
They’re just an immature pack of narcissists craving their 15 minutes and making us all look like a bunch of entitled a-holes in the process.................Luca

I'm far too old school to think any of their actions are OK. Crass... Ugly Americans comes to mind. Would think they'd feel right at home at the White house.
As for their political opinions, once AOC, Omar and Alyssa Milano paved the way, I'm afraid we'll be treated to even more sagacious thoughts from that age group.

I said it earlier on this thread: Trump has been the bigger person in this spat; he has a paradoxical ability to be both thin-skinned one minute and magnanimous the next. The USWT has no choice but to accept an invitation to the White House--giving Trump another Presidential moment while making any team members who decline look petty and small. This is not a pro sports team; this is America's team and if the women don't go it's over for their futures. They'll get booed wherever they go.

Remember who goes to the majority of their friendlies: 12 year old girls with their parents. Does mom/dad want to be spending their time explaining Rapinoe to their daughter?

Memo to Lefties: using sports to attack Trump is only helping him to get re-elected. Please stop thinking everyone wants to hear about your TDS. We "normals" still outnumber you by a big margin.

Whenever I'm feeling a little run down I'll watch YouTube reruns of media responses during the 2016 election night. The one from "The Young Turks" is absolutely priceless. Never fails to cheer me up.
It is obviously too early to make any calls and all kinds of things can change, but the way things are looking at the moment Donald Trump is looking golden. If he gets reelected I think I'm more excited about watching the media reactions again as opposed to the actual election results.
You wonder if, seven years into his presidency, all these people with incessant, incoherent anger and acting out might have a momentary flash of insight and think to themselves "Y'know, I've been enraged for 7 straight years. Is it me? Am I missing something?......
.........Nahhh

It's nothing like the current situation, but I remember hearing a few older (liberal) teachers--now in their late 60s--occasionally say how "terrible it was in the 1980's" under Ronald Reagan. I never said anything in response (as I was a teenager in that decade) except to think, "what universe were you guys living in back then?"

I don't know who that guy is but he may have just vaulted over Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi as my GOAT coach!
And he's going to have a monsoon of hate coming his way in about three minutes.....

In a nutshell, that's why the NHL is the best professional sports league in North America.
