So you think Bick took it as a compliment? Sure he did... that Laphroaig burnt his nuts off, remember? i was going to say my preference is Glenlivet, too... but after reading through, I might just keep that (and my nuts) to myself.

and where were you last night! yep a nice prohibition style near barrel strength.... I've concocted and blend of the basic 86 proof Old Forester + the Old Forester 1920 115 proof. The 1920 is one of my faves, but at $50+ a bottle its not cheap. The 86 proof is about $16. So my conception or cocktail becomes 2:1 (O.F. 86 proof : O.F. 115 proof) + drop of simple syrup or my fave orange liquor + splash of bitters and an orange peel. this tastes great, maintains the Old Forester experience, is easier on the wallet and sometimes my face.....

In a speakeasy.
I like that idea of blending whiskeys in a drink, SK80.

In a speakeasy. I like that idea of blending whiskeys in a drink, SK80. Ha! You going social underground, back door, private entrance...! Blending is in fact an art itself like in the wine business. Many of the best whiskeys out there are blended/or bought from various sources, then worked as blends in a tasting room/facility. Many of the Bourbons you drink today are likely mashed, fermented distilled on site with the corn yet the rye could already been bought from somewhere else.... they corn and rye are then iced and barrelled. I often add some of my real smokey whiskeys as a splash onto a more mainstream lower cost whiskey.... i.e. I have some real expensive High West whiskeys that are REALLY SMOKEY! I'll pour a simple Jim Beam and give it a splash of the High West. Great addition!

All bourbon is just Scotch that's been filtered through a human kidney and rebottled.
