His flaws are fairly obvious to all. He doesn't mask them as well as Obama did his. To be fair, he doesn't seem to try.
The shortcomings are legion: Narcissistic, too flamboyant Mediocre public speaker Novice diplomat Prone to extremes of praise and criticism Disingenuous (that is nicest way I could think of putting it) Overconfident in his abilities Maybe not "unethical", but he does push the envelope Unnecessarily abrasive His immediate reactions go right from the super ego to twitter without being filtered by the ego, to put it in a Freudian terms
He does have his strengths: Determination Direct He cannot be intimidated He does not care about political expediency Practical and commonsense agenda Contempt for political correctness
I thought he would be able to overcome those flaws better than he has. I didn't know he had them all, initially. But given what he is I'm surprised he has accomplished as much as he has........................Luca

Hey Bick, I lived in NYC for 10 years, went to college in the city. I left Orange County, Corona de Mar a tanned blonde blue eyed surfer boy. I went cold turkey to the east coast, alone! Let me tell you my first day experience I won't ever forget...., walked into a typical breakfast kind of NYC deli/diner and sat at the counter. I grabbed a menu, sipped some ice water and the middle aged guy sitting next to me reading the paper takes his left elbow and firmly jabs me saying aloud "How about the F*cking Yankees"! I was in complete shock! My initial impression was how obnoxious, how rude and keep to your own space dude. It was about a week later, living and scratching in the big city, I LOVE NEW YORK! No BS, say what you mean and don't be offended... grow a pear pal! My point is Trump is a burroughs boy, even the weak are tough. And the tough, just big bully punks that more times than not back up their B.S. As a Californian I think I get him a little bit better than most out here in the PC Coast!

To me, there are two Donald Trumps:
Donald Trump, the man, is close to what I might call “contemptible.” Even if I don’t believe all that media crap about his past, I don’t like a man who behaves like he behaves: Someone PLEASE take that Twitter account away from him, then, teach him how to consider his comments BEFORE he says them. He doesn’t act “presidential,” especially when someone stands up to him. He seems so I secure, he always has to have the last word (very much like some of those we left behind in “TOB”.
Donald Trump, the President, however, is someone I can get behind. Despite the rabid hatred coming at him on a daily basis, sometimes from all sides, he still gets results. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t support everything he does. The National Emergency to build the wall, for example. I would have preferred that he hadn’t done that. But I also realize the democrat liberals had every opportunity to avoid it. But they were driven solely by their hatred so left him little choice. Suffice it to say I don’t like it, but I do understand it.
On balance, I am looking at every reasoned Conservative who throws their hat into the Republican or independent ring... but I have not seen anyone yet.

Trump was not my guy initially in the GOP primaries; I was all-in on Ted Cruz, believing him to be the constitutional conservative we needed after the eight-year wreckage of BHO. I didn't appreciate Trump's rough treatment of Cruz when the GOP race finally came down to the two of them. But by the time we got to the GOP Convention I was squarely behind Trump--or anyone for that matter who could defeat the awful Hillary Clinton. For accomplishing what virtually everyone thought was impossible, conservatives ought to be eternally grateful.
Flawed as he is, the alternative is unthinkable. For better or worse (and I think the results have been excellent so far) Trump is the N.Y. street fighter we need at this time and place. Considering how the entirety of the Democratic party, many NeverTrump GOP senators and congressmen, the media, academia, Hollywood, Wall Street, and Silicon Valley is rabidly opposed to his very existence, what he has accomplished thus far is nothing short of amazing.
He didn't need this. The fact that he was willing to step away from what could have been an easy retirement to go down in history as the most polarizing (and hated by half the country) figure in American politics tells me there is an authentic patriotism driving his Presidency.
Despite the occasional missteps, I'm going to trust his instincts to get the job done. I gladly pulled the lever for Donald in 2016 and will do so again in 2020. The lunacy on display from the Left in just the last 30 days is reason enough.

And the tough, just big bully punks that more times than not back up their B.S. As a Californian I think I get him a little bit better than most out here in the PC Coast! Unless you've engaged with New Yorkers, it's pretty much impossible to be able to "get" Donald Trump. I got to know a couple of transplanted NY guys in a pizza place I had back in the early 80's. NO ONE liked those guys - mainly because of their directness. It took a while, but at the end of the day, those 2 were pretty much the ONLY ones I could count on for honest, and sometimes hard to hear, feedback. You're right, here on this side of the continent, it seems so many have learned the art of saying what's desired to be heard, v. what is needed to be said. This is no way give the president a pass for his embellishments. THAT actually flies in the face of what my relationship with those NY guys were all about. THEY were about brutal honesty, and didn't need to hear how great they were.

Whenever you're feeling exasperated or annoyed with Trump's flaws, just remember this #1 factor in his favor:
(and notice the date of Hilary's own original tweet: October 26, 2016.....doh!)

Usurping Congress for the border security is ironically, an assault on our freedom, and should be fought by all of us.
Put this one on the "con" ledger.

I happened to catch a portion of Trump's CPAC speech today... not only would I put this on the pro side, I'd highly recommend listening to it.
I thought he was engaging, funny, relaxed, and REAL.

As far as the "directness" of New Yorkers, I have only visited the Big Apple once, but my impression is that directness was very much needed in that city. New York City is full of fresh off the boat immigrants and tourists. As overcrowded as the area is, the "experienced" New Yorkers don't have time to pussyfoot around with the newbies & visitors to teach them how things work in that city. Being direct is a requirement of that environment.

With all of his faults, I truly celebrate everyday I wake up not having to hear President Hillary Clinton and the mainstream media shoving her down our throats.

As for the mainstream media shoving her down our throats, stand by: Cankles hasn’t announced yet. Soros is holding her back for a surprise entry...

OK, I'll bite. Trump is more intelligent than most give him credit for. I think the issue is, he believes he is more intelligent than virtually anyone on the planet. A job as complex as the Presidency requires a greater degree of trust in others than he is capable of giving. He really trusts only himself and is willing to immediately throw anyone under the bus that crosses him. That's why we are seeing long time advisors suddenly turn on him. There is no loyalty. That's his biggest shortcoming and what will be his eventual undoing.
There are some great ideas brewing but he just can't seem to execute because he is unwilling to give up anything to get what he wants. He only knows how to negotiate from a position of absolute power. Negotiating a positive outcome when you have virtually no leverage is an art, one he doesn't seem to have mastered. So, he manufactures leverage and will even sacrifice a former confident to gain leverage. He's going to run out of people and things to sacrifice.

No need to sugarcoat your opinion MDD. You can tell us how you really feel. I'd be happy to. Please list the many personal character traits of Donald Trump that you find admirable or worthy of emulation. Is it his marital fidelity? His commitment to a single spouse? The fact that he can't seem to push himself away from the dinner table? His unwavering honesty? His bankruptcy-laden business dealings? His propensity to shaft his employees, creditors and investors? His loyalty to those who are loyal to him...or anybody else? His vain use of hair dye and bronzing gel? His childish belittlement of those he disagrees with? His MENSA-level tweets? Just what is it about the guy's personality or character that you like?

Like the one about building the wall and having Mexico pay for it? As of Mar. 1, after 26 months in office, not one mile of new wall had been built, and not one peso had been sent from Mexico to pay for it.
