He stopped Hillary Clinton from being the President of the United States. Trump did his job. I think preventing HIllary Clinton from becoming president, and allowing Kamala Harris to become so, is probably a net loss.

But isn’t the sequel always worse than the original on which it was based?

Anyone have a summary of the pros & cons of what was actually accomplished (as opposed to his personality flaws)? I do not, but the internet is replete with list after list. Since The NY Times isn’t a Trump fan, I will trust their A FACT-CHECKED LIST OF TRUMP’S ACCOMPLISHMENTSHow about the policy decision cons?

Personally, I couldn't care less what the N.Y. Times thinks were Trump's pros and cons. I'd much rather hear the opinions of those here. Off the top of my head I can think of two huge pros and one unforgiveable con.
Pro #1: It was largely as a result of Project Warp Speed that we may have seen a permanent sea change in how we develop, test and approve viral vaccines. The result was cutting about 90% off the historical timelines for doing so. The impact of that for future generations and viruses can't even be imagined.
Pro #2: Four Muslim nations have normalized relations with Israel. If Saudi Arabia follows suit, it could lead to a wave of Arab states doing the same and bringing the Middle East closer to peace and stability than it has been in 70 years. Primary credit for that should go to the Trump administration and its travel squad.
Con #1: When Trump lost the election, he could have focused on maintaining GOP control of the Senate. Rather than whining and complaining for his own edification, he could have campaigned for the two Republican senators in the Georgia runoff election and almost certainly ensured their reelection. But he couldn't bring himself to do it. He could only think of himself and his own ego. For well over a month he badmouthed Georgia, the state's Republican party, Governor Kemp, Secretary of State Raffensperger and anyone else in the state he could blame for his loss. He certainly demotivated thousands of GOP voters into either staying home or voting for someone else. Just once Trump could have pushed something bigger than himself ahead of himself, but as always, his ego wouldn't allow him to do it. The Senate is in Democratic control today largely because of him.

Pro...Showed force in Syria in the early stages of his presidency, I believe this acted as a deterrent to future hostile actions from them, which led to...
Pro... Finishing off ISIS

There's a meme making the rounds these last few months that goes something like this:
O.K. I understand it is more fanciful than factual. It is, at best, a serious long shot.
but it's fun to think about the democrat heads exploding.

I want to now where you stand on Trump running for president again (whether in 2024 or later).
Has voter sentiment soured? (not talking 0nly about the Trump devotees, here)
Is there a better Candidate out there in the wings (PLEASE don't say "Caitlin Jenner")
Should he just shut up now to improve his chances in the future?
Would running essentially give the election to the democrat candidate (whom, I still believe, will be Kamala Harris)

Dave it is nice to win, but even more important is getting the right guy in there. In 2016, Trump was an unknown - no one knew how he would govern. Now we know, and he was more popular the second time around. Ted Cruz seemed like a good voice, but Trump was way better. Trump is still the best candidate, and Biden makes him look even better. I know he is old, but he is still the best man for the job. I don't know if I would trust any other Republican like I do him. He proved himself. But if the Democrats cheat again, no matter how popular Trump is, he will lose in the fake election.

As MDDad said in the other thread, being a newbie, and not being a politician, he made some mistakes, like everything he wrote on Twitter, but on balance, I liked what he DID over the kind of man I believe he is. My concern is, if he runs, cheating aside (which WOULD guarantee a democrat win, as you say), is the acrimony he caused pushing voters away?

Has anyone else on this forum seriously considered the likelihood that Trump just isn't very bright? Personally, I think he's a moron...especially when compared to the intelligent, articulate and quick-witted person he used to be. His mental decline is frightening. best president ever
