To compete at the highest levels in Division I you do need skill players. But most of all you need 5 real offensive linemen and a talented front 7 on defense, or else all the skill players in the world will get you nowhere.
We will have 5-star wide receivers getting wide open, looking upfield and seeing their QB on his back. Or the Alabama bound RB getting buried as soon as he gets the handoff. Unless you play against those kind of teams regularly and know what to expect and how to deal with it, you can't adequately prepare for it. I don't think Calabasas has seen that kind of competition and I don't think they'd be able to handle it.
Remember Khalil Tate versus MD in the playoffs? As talented a high school QB as I have ever seen and all he got was exhausted and a dirty uniform................................Luca

You're probably right. When D1 semis are decided by more than a 5 TD average, hard to disagree.

I don't get it, unless he's failing his classes at Mater Dei and was going to be ineligible. What does he possibly gain by that move? On a side note, the happiest guy in SoCal HSFB is the Corona Centennial QBs coach... |

What he gains is being able to graduate after one semester of his senior year. Mater Dei refused to accept the classes he took to online to graduate early, but apparently IMG is not nearly as particular. Which comes as no great surprise.

Daniels took a double course load of classes at Mater Dei in his junior year and his last two summers. His family and his counselors planned out what it would take for him to graduate early when he was a sophomore.
He didn't take questionable online classes and then hope they would be acceptable to the school.
