In the era of Trump, there are many on the left who literally expect white people from middle class and above neighborhoods like San Clemente to act this way. The sun rises & sets, there is traffic on the freeway and white people will use racial taunts every time they see a black person. In their minds, it is normal, everyday behavior.
Those of us who live in such areas are appalled not only by such an action, but also by the nonchalance of the accusations. Note that the accusation does not even hint at there being an altercation between people, instead it was a one sided attack. How often does that occur in real life?
My hunch is one of two things happened. Either this event never occurred and it was a situation of someone using the race card because they had their feelings hurt about something or it was a pissing contest between two groups, one side using racial taunts towards whites and the other responding with racial taunts towards blacks.
All that is missing is the accusation that the San Clemente folks were wearing MAGA hats.

The naacp letter and the other school principal remarks are interesting. Apparently, they wanted someone in charge to do something about the allegation that racial slurs were levied at the Lincoln cheerleaders on the field and again in the bathroom.
I'm wondering what exactly they were expecting. An announcement on the PA... "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. It has come to our attention a few of you are idiots and have engaged in using racial slurs. Please stop. Our apologies to the other 99.95% of you who do have a brain."?

So a team loses 29-0 and its cheerleaders make claims of racist taunts without any substantiation even though every single teenager in the world has a cell phone at the ready. Teens can whip out their phone and take video faster than Jesse James could draw his six shooter, wouldn't you think at least one person would have caught at least one taunt and been able to post it?
Put me in the "this is BS" crowd. Who is their cheerleader coach, Jussie Smollett? I think the Lincoln kids were coming to Orange County with a preconceived notion that all white people are racist and once they got embarrassed on the field, thought they could extract some revenge by concocting this goofy story.
The "re-education" needs to happen to the Lincoln student body, apparently they don't know that making false accusations is just as bad as making racial taunts.

You can sign me up for re-education for the sins of whatever of the groups / races or belief systems I belong to, once the naacp re-educates its own for their transgressions... including the sin of perpetually insisting on making their group victims.

If a person is truly racist and hateful because of some kind of stupid misconception about racial differences, I suspect forcing him to attend re-education classes might only make him worse.

I've never figured out why anyone would do much more than laugh at someone who removed all doubt about their own ignorance by using racial slurs as though they were some fact.

I've never figured out why anyone would do much more than laugh at someone who removed all doubt about their own ignorance by using racial slurs as though they were some fact. exactly. mostly and mainly used to leverage or get something out of it. simply people like these so called racists are such in the minority that most all are laughing, ignoring them. for crying out loud SC HS is almost half made up of minority students which to a point is not even a minority! i wasn't there yet my best guess had this been on display for others or many to see it would have been shut down immediately. sorry i have "racism' oriented discussion, debate and headline fatigue. |

Good news! The exhaustive investigation concluded that a handful of people used racial slurs in the stands And in the bathroom.
Once again, proof positive that OC has been the west coast counterpart of the KKK, and is fortunate to have turned blue. However, that's not nearly good enough. We need to take immediate steps to ensure no one ever has to endure such degrading remarks in the future.
All non - poc people must go through a sensitivity training and be licensed to go out in public effective Jan 1, 2020, or face a fine and possible incarceration if unable to produce a valid public interaction license.

In every statistical population of people, be it San Clemente high school students, politicians, pig farmers or brain surgeons, there will be a small percentage of them imbued with hatred for a specific group out of stupidity or ignorance. I think that's just a fact of human nature, and we shouldn't be all that surprised when it manifests itself from time to time. I'm not sure it can ever be stamped out.
What's interesting to me is that the liberal/Democratic solution to these kinds of flare-ups is always the same. Send the transgressors to anti-racism classes or sensitivity training, knowing full well that it will likely do absolutely no good. But, as always, it's "doing something" that will allow them to pat each other on the back and FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES as having addressed the problem. It's so predictable that it's laughable.
