Dave, I think the contest to determine whether California or Illinois is more insane is now over. San Francisco is in the process of passing an ordinance that would pay people $300 a month if they agree not to shoot anybody, and another $300 if they agree to not get shot. Let's see you top that, Illinois Boy!

We have Gollum Beetlejuice as mayor of Chicago and still can’t compete with that.
I give up. You guys lose.

Some interesting #% here in California..... over the past 18 years or nearly just decades...
The Democratic Party albeit has grown 2% of the populous, while the GOP has lost 11%. Not all staggering, but futile to any outcome other than a Democratic win. So where did the 11% go? The shift to Independent may be the majority of them at an increase of 7%, I would have to believe some Democrats are in there as well. That said, another 4% of the registered Republicans have simply disappeared, not registered or probably left the state.
The one positive possibly you could take away, is that Elder's % among those whom chose a replacement candidate is nearly or equal to that of Schwarzenegger and we all know where he ended up on his political path. Again, albeit, Arnold did not face the statistical registration advantage Larry did. Kudos to Elder for even pulling in the numbers he did on much less recognition and little endorsement or money.

No, no, no. You have to understand percentages. During those 18 years, the population of the state increased by six million. If the number of Democrats and independents grew faster than the number of Republicans, then the percentage of Republicans would decrease, and that's exactly what happened. It doesn't mean there are fewer of them. Come on, man.

You cannot discount the Republicans leaving the state in greater numbers than the democrats, though.

You cannot discount the Republicans leaving the state in greater numbers than the democrats, though. Well, that's a different subject. However, there are also large numbers of Democrats leaving the state for the same reasons, and turning their new states from red to purple, or purple to blue. That may be the real downside.

Maybe "different" when observing the impact in their "new" states, but when democrats are counting coup in CA, it must be included in the rationale.

This is one of the two big fallacies in the left's plans to pay for all their wet dreams by "making the rich pay their fair share". The first is that all the wealth of all "the rich" wouldn't pay for a tenth of what the left wants to do. There's a reason they have never trotted out any actual financial plans to do so. The second is that when you try to squeeze the rich, they have the means to pick up their bat and ball and go elsewhere. I guess nobody on the left ever considered that possibility.

When people say "stole the election" it is organizations like the SEIU & Union money that organize, mobilize and finance ways to win. Behind all this there always seems something sneaky, sinister, slimy. Well top brass just got the KICK in the A**!!
