The CIF never ceases to amaze. That's just crazy stupid that Servite did not make the playoffs. I think what it really means is that they don't put much stock in the rankings. There's no calpreps for basketball, is there? Maxpreps has a computer ranking.

And here I was bitching about the football playoffs I completely understand that a team that finishes 4th or 5th place in league is not guaranteed a playoff spot. What makes no sense is slotting a team like ours in a lower division (where we've been ranked in the top 4 all year) and then getting shut out. What's the point of the divisional ranking then? And for a lesser team (OLu) from the same league--that we beat twice--to make the playoffs is hard to reconcile. If you're going to put teams in the same league in different divisions then it seems the divisional rankings have to mean something. Based on this year's finish we should be slotted in a higher division next year, which may mean exactly....nothing.

And even a Mater Dei Coach thinks it's crazy!

If it's any consolation, Cypress knocked off OLu.

If it's any consolation, Cypress knocked off OLu. Actually, that only adds salt to the wound because had we been in that playoff spot rather than OLu we likely would have won. Next year.....

6'3" sophomore scored 40 points against St. John Bosco this year and has a chance to be one of the best ever at Servite.

Watching Mater Dei vs. Sierra Canyon for the CIF Open Division tile from the Pyramid. Actually rooting for our Trinity League rivals, as SC is so artificially constructed they make MD look like a neighborhood team by comparison.

Lost by 11 but was 5 for 20 at the 3 point line and missed free throws. Sierra Canyon has a full team of transfers, but their main 2 players are good, very good.

As in your football teams are naturally constructed! that aside..., in a big picture this hasn't happened sine WWII...

I don't necessarily love these tweets but I have no idea the last time a Servite kid received a D-1 basketball offer. Could be a couple of decades.
