... my 6-4 wild-card Servite football team upset her two-time defending CIF Champion Edison team. #1 in the nation, 32 straight wins...all blown up by her fiance's team. Class of '82? That would be 1 year behind me. I was the guy driving the bright red '74 Trans Am and also dating a girl from a public school (El Modena, who ironically had been the last school to defeat Edison prior Servites win).

That puts you 1 year behind me..., and your "Tranny" car 2 years behind my '72 Camero! What engine option did your TA have....?

I wish I was class of '82. Much older, I'm afraid.

1965 Chevy Corvair with a bench front seat. My mini-skirted girlfriend right next to me with her hand on my thigh. Heaven. (But that was in the late 60's) By '82 it was a Red Ford Mustang hatchback with t-top and rear louvers.

1963 white Mercury Comet. The outside wasn't much to look at, but the interior was all red and silver tuck-n-role naugahyde. Once you started sliding across that, man you didn't stop 'til you hit a door. It was like an indoor Slip-N-Slide.
I'll bet none of our cars can stand up to Luca's black Model T with wooden spoked wheels.

Ha I almost started this as a thread swell..... figured someone might pick up on it as a notion too...! Ya my dad bought me this car when I was 16..., a kid had it new and after high school if I remember his dad made him sell it... it was a sweet car, the guy put a shift kit in it, removed linkage to make it manual 3 speed center column shifter, Offenhauser dual port manifold, Holly 660 twin pump carburator, that Chevy 350 small block purred...., believe this, its still in my parents garage....

During high school, it was the stock 455, but after high school, we rebuilt it to 455SD specs. Got it dialed in to the point it was over 500 HP & 500 ft lbs of torque. I remember the black 68 or 69 Camaro one of the football players in the class of '80 had (Ernst?), but I am struggling to remember yours. Your senior year, not many juniors got to park in the parking lot, so half the time i was in one of the adjoining neighborhood and I didn't get to see everyone that was in the main lot. When I went to our 10 year class reunion, if there was someone who didn't know me, I would just say 'Red Trans Am" and they would respond "Oh, your that guy" . Senior year (after you had graduated), I made changes to the body. I had the wheel wells flared out & added wider Radial TA's with Cragar SST rims, changed the factory hood scoop for a Chevy L88 one, lowered the entire car for a road racer look and had a custom paint job & pin-striping done. Below is an old picture I have of it, it was a fun high school car. Alas,a couple of years later, an illegal alien made a left turn in front of me and the accident ended up totaling the car. The engine was still relatively new, so I kept the car and pieced it out. I still have the steering wheel on the wall in my office.

I don’t want to leave you with the impression the ‘76 Pinto was all I drove: Before I want into the Navy, a ‘68 Mustang. After the Pinto, I had a ‘74 Firebird... THEN, of course, I got a truck because I was aging out of my cool car stage.

But at least you were slotted higher than the guy who rode a 10 speed to school.

I had a 73 Pinto my Jr year and got hit by a drunk driver and did not explode, then replaced it with a 73 Vega my Senior year in 75. I graduated I upgraded to a Maverick ....

That's one badass car...a total chick magnet. Everyone remembers the dudes who drove cool cars in HS. So of course, I dated the same girl in Jr. & Sr. year - no chance to see what the car could do for me. Then again, that girl was 2 years older than me, already out of high school and way out of my league looks wise, so maybe the car did its job. After all, this past Friday was the 41st Valentines Day we have shared together
