Frankly, you’d think a State that has historically been fire-susceptible would divert more funds into Fire Fighting and Prevention than other non-necessary expenditures. But hey, I’m glad Joe Schmo, the janitor at the capital being paid $100k a year, is able to retire with a 100% pension. And don't forget all those bullet train dollars that could be put to better use. How in the hell did I forget the Browndoggle?

Never mind that CA experienced its hottest temps on record last week...stupid science...blame the arsonists. IAs MDDad mention, this summer was actually mild compared to most. Last week was the typical September "goodbye to summer" blast we get before the autumn temps begin in October. if you lived here, you would know that. Further, the fires are not all over the state. If climate change was the reason for them, you would see fires in places that you normally don't. Instead, all of the fires are on public lands, not private lands. Is climate change so smart that it knows the difference? Obviously no. Private lands are manged properly to keep the vegetation healthy. Undergrowth is removed, sick or dying trees are replaced, they are treated like one manages a garden. That is not the case with public lands. Thanks to the left, there is no management, the area is left to its own devices, resulting in the timber-boxes that go up in flames every decade or so. The natural cycle out here, if there is no human involvement, is small yearly fires that clear out the deadwood, leaving the healthy. This is not practical if humans are involved, so management is required to prevent large fires. If you choose not to manage and you suppress the small fires, you end up with huge blazes instead. Again, if you lived here, you might understand this situation, but you don't. So shush.

Never mind that most of the California fires were caused by arson or other human negligence. Party of "Science." Well, ACK’shully, Nan baby, your California Wildfires are what are contributing to the now global poor air quality. and listen to Credo, Babe: ANYONE who has lived for any length of time in California know those fires are caused primarily (for the resident vile butthead, that means “mostly”) by humans and human error. weather patterns, while not caused by human activity, aren’t showing “the earth is angry” but are more likely caused by the normal, predictable, observable earth shifting on its axis as it rotates around the sun. so, here’s a suggestion: BEFORE you go live for the camera, sweetheart, you will benefit greatly if you actually READ (or have someone read to you) an actual science book. That way, you won’t sound like such a clueless moron.

Again, if you lived here, you might understand this situation, but you don't. So shush. Everything you say is correct, with the possible exception of the red text. I heard a discussion on the radio about a week ago with two forestry experts. It's estimated that before Spanish missionaries and American settlers came to California, wildfires consumed about 12 million acres a year, so they weren't small yearly fires. We knocked that down to about 1/4 million acreas until the last few years, when the numbers are again approaching 2 million acres a year. That number is still historically very small. The fact that public lands are no longer allowed to be managed, spaced and cleared with sound and proven forestry practices is what is causing the uptick. And it's not the fault of Mother Nature that every year more and more developers and homeowners are choosing to build and live in or near forested areas.

From what I have read, the fires prior to settlers did indeed cover that large acreage, but were not consuming everything in their path. Think of a grass fire zipping through an area consuming the easy fuel as opposed to a full on forest fire consuming everything. Those earlier fires were clearing out dead wood & leaving the healthy vegetation, the current fires burn everything because not much of the vegetation is healthy. Those earlier fires also did not wipe out wildlife like the current ones do. So they were small in devastation, because they were yearly and promoted growth of the remaining healthy forest.
I believe it was John Muir who has passages about hiking in the West and coming upon fires. He would climb a healthy tree, the fire would pass below him and he would later climb down & continue his journey.

There is a lot of discussion about how lack of proper forestry management in public forests is allowing trees to grow closer together and underbrush to become more dense -- both of which contribute to the rapid spread of wildfires. What usually goes unsaid is that the closer trees are to each other, the easier it becomes for tree-destroying diseases and insects like beatles and weevils to spread from tree to tree. When they infest a tree, it eventually dies, becomes dry tinder, and burns much more easily.
It's no different than your home landscaping. Stop managing it and leave it alone for a couple years and it will become dry and overgrown. Throw a match on it and see what happens.

Not to mention that logging companies used to pay to help manage the forest, removing some trees and paying the state or feds for the privilege to do so. Then the left demonized the timber companies and called any logging activity "not environmentally friendly", and liberal politicians trembled as they did what the lefties wanted - no management.

I just love hearing from Dems about "science". How incredibly dumb do your followers have to be to think you've made a point by adding the word "science" to your argument?

Seriously Biden and Pelosi are Cuckoo For Coco Puffs...!!
Little George Steph tried all the science lines against Trump last night during the ABC 2020 townhall as if he were a scientist. People, even the scientists disagree and they also agree they don't know everything, yet these boobs in the Democrat party keep claiming to know all which means they are the greatest minds on earth. So watch the videos of late, Biden and Pelosi, are those best minds walking the earth?
