Robert E. Lee and Slavery
In this letter, Robert E. Lee discusses a central dilemma of his own life, and of American history, slavery. Lee was a gradual emancipationist who criticized slavery as an evil system, but had only vague hopes that it would eventually end. He owned few slaves in his own right, but in 1857, as executor of his father-in-law's large estate, he became responsible for almost 200 slaves who lived and worked on three large Virginia plantations that George W. P. Custis had willed to his Lee grandsons. www.masshist.org/database/viewer.php?item_id=1095&pid=3Yeah I know...you know more about the Civil War than anybody...but you're just wrong about Lee never owning any slaves. I hope you can live with the abject humiliation this must bring. Carry on. Perhaps you should re-read what you wrote. According to your own source, Robert E Lee never OWNED those slaves. He was merely the executor of his father-in-law's estate. The owners of those slaves, were Custis' grandsons, not Robert E Lee.

Professor, Lee owned slaves. Read all three sources. Or just let MDDad's silence speak for itself.

If the argument that "systemic racism exists in America in 2020" rests upon whether Robert E. Lee owned slaves, then that argument is in trouble.

Not only is Al Sharpton a liar, a buffoon, and a racial arsonist, he's bad at math. Even assuming a number of younger "slave masters" (born around 1830), almost all of their children would have been born by 1875 (and grandchildren before 1920). Even if a few former slave owners had children as late as 1890--and if a few of those children sired offspring as late as 1950--the youngest of the handful of living grandchildren of slave owners would be 70 years old today (if any such people actually exist).

This hit home some years ago when the valedictorian of Servite--who was white--was denied admission to UCLA, while a Hispanic student in the same class--who was no better than a B+ student--was admitted to the same school.

You cannot have a reasonable conversation with people such as Sen. Kaine who display this kind of ignorance or bad faith--which is probably their aim. They have no desire to have an honest "conversation" about racial issues; they simply want to intimidate or shame their opponents into granting them power.
And the governor and attorney general of the state Kaine represents wore blackface, but never mind....

Tim Kaine knows what every politician knows, particularly the Democrats who pander to the most ignorant among us. He knows that the majority of American voters base their beliefs and decisions on the soundbites and catchphrases they hear. No matter how accidentally or intentionally wrong it is, "We created it" is the kind of tide that sways a huge number of those voters. And that's all that matters.

Your daily reminder that white liberals--including those in the medical field--don't give a damn about the 200,000 black babies killed each year in the womb. In fact, they want your taxes to pay for it and will defend it to the death (macabre pun intended).

I'm sure genius Nancy thought it was a Mexican serape. By the way, whatever happened to the Democrats' shrieking concerns from 2017-2018 about the "undocumented" whose kids were being "kept in cages?" The Hispanics have suddenly been dropped like a hot potato. Different election cycle I guess....

Democrats have believed for decades that they can influence voters two ways: Promise free stuff to the subjugated masses (like minorities), and destabilize life in the U.S.. the Latino illegals were their opening salvo at both (“free entry” and destabilize border areas). The tool is STILL there and available to call up when they need it.
