CIF has an interesting decision. If they opt to support cancelation, schools may decide they no longer need the CIF, and opt to form another organization Can't say too much about it, but discussions about withdrawing from the CIF for this season are already underway. Primarily private schools, but one O.C.public school district is also interested. Stay tuned.

Yeah I'm sensing this on the public side as well.
I love hearing the resolve from football coaches when they draw a line in the sand.

I don't understand your concern. Mater Dei has been playing club football for the last 8 or 9 years..........Luca I nominate this for “Post of the Year”!

No, not unless the CIF or the government cancels the high school season.

I don't see any way possible they DON'T cancel the season given the metrics they chose.
Heard Sta Margarita club team was shut down in the past few days.

WCA built a field in Corona, and yes it looks like spectators are allowed.
I don't think there are bleachers, haven't been there myself yet, but I've seen some video on IG.
New turf field doesn't seem installed correctly, or got screwed up with the rain last week.

Simple version is coaches and parents of players have bonded together to thumb their nose at arbitrary rule to let the kids compete. I'm not even sure if there's any playoffs, or it wouldn't get shut down before any took place. From what I understand, it's not about winning a trophy. Some teams, like the sunset argos, are pretty organized. They even had a live audio stream of the game yesterday. The Argos seem to be mostly made up of Newport / HB area kids. Didn't see any FV kids on the roster. Maybe on a different club?

What you're describing is true renegade club football, much like the summer 7-on-7 club teams. And Winner Circle has been messing with that kind of stuff for several months. Conversely, all I've been hearing about is Trinity League schools (and some public and Mission League schools) actually playing as club teams with new names to "disguise" who they are.
There are many reasons for kids to play football in high school, and for parents and fans to support them. One is for seniors who may be marginal college recruits to have one last chance to show what they can do and impress some college coach. It may seem like a trivial reason to us, but it's pretty important to the kids, their families and their coaches who care about them.

Yeah, I've heard that as well, and scouts do follow WCA a bit. I'm not sure where it all goes, but it's got the potential to be high level competition for elite players whose rosters aren't hamstrung by by arbitrarily defined rules. If that ends up being the case, there's a shot that HS football returns to the recreational level made up of neighborhood kids it was back in the day. Not sure that's such a bad thing. Here's a link to some Argo highlights so you can get an idea of the facilities. www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17912098843575432/
