Netflix is doing a documentary/show on this. I think they even paid for the field, which was supposedly really bad conditioned.

Field wasn't in very good shape at all given it was brand new. My sense is that the substrate wasn't prepped correctly before laying it down.

With a looming Feb 15 drop dead date from CIF to start HS football for the 2020 season, I think it's safe to say club is going to be the only football for 2021 seniors.
Now the question becomes whether or not HS will be able to practice Mar-May for the usual spring football. I don't see how THAT is possible at this point if we need to be at an orange level.

We'll know more when the CIF-SS makes its next announcement on Jan. 19. If Feb. 15 becomes the "start" date, the most likely scenario is a 5-game season against league opponents, with no playoffs.
I'm not sure what you mean by "practice", but many schools have been "conditioning" three or four days a week since August. There's no reason to think that wouldn't continue right into the spring, with possibly a short break of two or three weeks between the "2020 season" and the start of 2021 spring ball.

Practice = team activities.
Without them, might make for a very interesting season.

Saw my first live club football game out in WCA's field in Corona yesterday. We've dubbed it "Speakeasy Football"...on private property surrounded by a shooting range. New field wasn't installed very well. Yeah, WCA is getting theirs by charging $5 for parking and $10 admission. I think there are 15 games per weekend, with about 200 per game in attendance. No seating, so it's BYOC.
Football itself was pretty decent. No kickoffs or kicking PAT's. Officials did a nice job of eliminating the 7v7 trash talking. If you're called for taunting, you get 15 yds, ejection, and you miss the next game. Fans were pretty decent about everything. PA announcer seemed to think he was doing radio PBP instead of being a stadium announcer...but it was kids playing FOOTBALL.
Bottom line, the whole experience felt a LOT like FREEDOM. From the looks of things, that's all we'll be seeing this year in CA.

Perhaps this is the same location that Bick mentioned above, but I am hearing that a number of schools--including a number of the Trinity League teams--are playing club football on some Indian reservation in Chino Hills.
Can anyone else confirm this?

I can confirm there is at least one Trinity League team that is NOT playing in that shit league. We had someone go out there to look at the Winner Circle field, and it is a joke. It looks like someone threw a green blanket over a dirt field, and the risk of injury is off the charts.
We've also heard from a couple reliable sources that Servite has at least a few players playing in that league. It's hard to imagine that Troy Thomas would condone that, so it makes one wonder if they are doing so against his wishes. Has he lost a little control of that program?

For sure, there are some Servite kids out there. While it is not the school's first wish to see these kids doing club football, there is a concession to the circumstances that these kids need to be out there for their own motivation, sanity, and--in some cases--to get film to help them with college recruiting. As long as CIF has its head up its ___, kids and families are going to take control over their own futures--and I can't blame them one bit.

It's a shit league because the field is bad? Not as fully developed, or led by as competent personnel as at CIF?

The field certainly isn't as nice as the one on Bristol & St Andrew, and the league organizers aren't nearly as polished as the ones on Pine St in Los Alamitos. But your scouting report of a treacherous field is overblown, as to my knowledge, there haven't been any field related injuries in the 30+ games played there so far the past 2 weeks. And yeah, the league could use a lot more organization, but given it was put together pretty much on the fly after our brilliant CA leadership has decided the CA mutated version of the virus is deadlier than the one the other states who played deal with, most of the parents I've spoken to are appreciative nonetheless.
Lastly, most of the rosters don't have kids with multiple D1 offers, and they certainly appreciate the opportunity to get some playing time on film.

This just crossed my mind, There is a good chance many a senior will get punished by this years lack of playing in so many ways. One would think as we roll into next season why would not these kids whom may be good enough to move on play a year at a JC to get film? Could this be a boon for the community college programs? If you want to play on a great field with actual locker rooms check out LeBard Stadium at OCC!!!

I think the 2022-23 kids are hurt most by not having any film. If the 2021 kids haven't gotten offers prior to the start of their senior season, I think most would end up at a JC or D3 anyway.
