The eyes of your avatar seem to be pretty excited by that 2nd prospect.

I guess a crisis will bring out the best in creativity and entrepreneurship. But what's next, drive-through glory holes? Keep VP and BostonDave out of my Religion thread.

Long Mass today. Lots of Latin. I loved it.

Always remember that, above all else, God is our heavenly Father.

I like it. I feel bad I didn’t know who Lecrae was. Here’s one back at you.
If anything now exist, than either something finite emerged out of nothing, or something infinite must exist.

Dr. Walter Martin My Dad was on the Elder Board at Melodyland Christian Center when Walter Martin taught Sunday School there. I’ve read Kingdom of the Cults more than once and used it as a reference multiple times. He also spoke at Melodyland’s Charismatic Conference every year and we were there every year, too.

This small world is getting even smaller. I had been to Melodyland a couple of times but Dr. Martin had already moved his Bible study to Newport Mesa Christian Center. I saw him once there. I listened to him on the Bible Answer Man Show every day, three hours a day for about four years. I still have my copies of Kingdom of the Cults, Jehovah of the Watchtower and The Maze of Mormonism. Did you ever listen to Ken Samples. He worked at CRI and filled in for Dr. Martin from time to time. He is now over at Reasons to Believe. He has a weekly podcast. I really enjoy his insight.

I have used CRI website sometimes but don’t recall Ken Samples. i started attending The Christian Center before it moved to Melodyland. That was back when Gene Wilson was the Youth Pastor.

Half true. I'm not sure who Lecrae is, but this sounds like a half-baked version of Pascal's Wager, which is a pragmatic approach to belief that essentially argues that you lose nothing by believing in God--even if it turns out God doesn't exist--while you gain nothing and risk losing everything if you reject God--and it turns out that God does exist.

Although as your graphic shows, he was postulating in the existence of a Christian God. Lecrae is a Christian Hip Hop artist: I’d rather believe Pascal than Lecrae, but i see his version is simplified, not half-baked.

I know you and I are of the same mind as to belief in God and Christ, so my disagreement isn't with you.
Where I disagree with the Lecrae quote is his assertion that, if it turns out God doesn't exist, then "I wasted my life." What exactly would be "wasted?" The opportunity to act more selfishly in an existence that ends in nothingness?
I'm sure he meant this in good faith, but the danger of this simplified version is one I see many young people struggle with (including some of my own students) in terms of seeing belief in God as a potential "loss" of something. That is, the fear of "missing out" on something (fun? loss of self?) if they commit themselves to Christ and his teachings. That misgiving, paired with much of popular culture's undermining of Christianity, serves as a real barrier to faith for many.

Personally, I wouldn't wager that there is a God just to hedge a bet.
For me, belief in God is just that, belief. For those who don't believe in God, trying to give them a logical reason to change their belief system seems shady. Either they believe or they don't and usually it is life's experiences that will be the only true effect on those beliefs.
