Throwing that wood and chains onto the pile was probably the only physical labor Newsom has ever done in his life. I wonder who sprayed the water in his armpits to make him look like he was sweating. And I'm sure he kept right on working after the camera turned off. What a goddamn phony.

The people aren't going to vote Republican. We'll just get another Blue Governor who will continue the same BS. I think the people will end up with a Republican governor if he is recalled. All of the poll leaders are Republicans, and Dems don't want the recall, so they aren't running. Just Republicans. That is how Arnold got in. But the odds are even for the recall itself. |

I think people are losing sight of the irrelevance of this recall. First, in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans roughly 2.2 to 1, it's likely that Newsom will survive. If he doesn't, and if a Republican is elected as the new governor, nothing changes. Democrats have a super majority in both houses of the legislature. Anything the new governor may want to do will be a nonstarter. And any vetos that he imposes on a bill passed by the legislature will be overridden.
Then, next year, it's very likely we'll elect another blue turd to the office. I know there's some value in being optimistic, but you also have to ground yourself in the realities of the numbers in Sacramento.
