I hate to be the one to bring this up, but here's a very likely outcome of the recall effort: (1) Covid cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to plummet because the disease has run its course. (2) Newsom takes credit for the "victory", saying it was his steadfast leadership in the face of constant criticism that led to our coming out of this plague. (3) The majority of California voters believe his story, because they're either Democrats or stupid, and Newsom sweeps through the recall election in a stunning victory. Doubt any Republicans support Newsom, but as you have said all along, need Dems to support the recall. Not confident it happens. In some ways, recalling the governor is easier there than it is in IL... But both states require bi-partisan support to actually do it, and since Illinois (and California) are significantly controlled by democrats, I also do not see it happening (in either state). |

First, the Covid epidemic is winding down. And second, he just got a crapload of bailout money in this phony "Covid relief bill". |

If you get too close to him actually getting the boot, I'd expect Pelosi to get involved either behind the scenes (where she might actually already be) or large and in-charge. It is generally accepted she wants him in the White House and he'll never make it on his merits with a recall on his back.
although, he might yet make it if Kamala selects him as her vp once she kicks Biden to the curb...
