After waiting 8 pages to see if anyone mentioned it I guess I'll ask...what about the budget surplus you all are enjoying in CA? California Has Big Plans With Its Massive Budget SurplusThat just means California's taxes were massively too high in the first place.

Usually having a budget surplus is viewed as a good thing...I guess since it's a democrat you have to find a reason why it's not good. Carry on.

That just means California's taxes were massively too high in the first place. California doesn't really have a budget surplus. They have a gazillion dollar public pension liability. It's like having a hundred bucks in your pocket when you also have 50K in credit card debt. That's what you get when you have government officials negotiating public pension contracts with the unions that helped put them in office. They're both on the same side, and the party that gets stuck with the tab isn't in the room.

and thats why ALL govt employees should be minimum wage,, no perks I disagree. That approach would result in "minimum wage" caliber people in government jobs, and nobody wants that. The DMV is already as bad as we need to get. Government employees should be paid commensurate with those in the private sector, and when they retire (at the same age as private sector employees) they get social security equal to private sector employees. This bullcrap about retiring in one's 50's and getting 90% of one's last salary for life is obscene.

govt is a service,,not a job. let them go find a real job is they want more money. govt jobs are an expense..pvt sector is an asset. govt should not be the #1 "employer"

You're living in Fantasyland. I don't want my cops and border patrol agents making eight bucks an hour.

I assume the unions negotiate with whatever politicians are in power when the negotiations occur...so are the unions supposed to wait and negotiate with someone who they didn't support politically?

The people aren't going to vote Republican. We'll just get another Blue Governor who will continue the same BS. Not necessarily. I don't know if any Dems are running against Newsome. If he loses, there will be hundreds - mostly Republican - on the list. Larry Elder has the best name recognition, besides Bruce Jenner.
