Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom and Andrew Cuomo have demonstrated that having a track record of governance or leadership can be a very strong negative.

I'd take the unknown from Larry Elder, rather than the known idiocy of Newsom any day.

"Anyone but him" again. Is that really the best we can do now?
Are we really incapable of seeing THAT is the problem?

Does he have a track record of governance or leadership at any level? Bick, obviously relies on a long track record of governance when voting, it is this alone that make Biden, Pelosi, Feinstein and Waters such great qualified leaders.

My observation has been that is not the best we can do, but we've been voting the "not her/him" ticket for a long time. We voted "anyone but Clinton" in 2016, and "anyone but Obama" in 2008 and 2004... we CAN see that's the problem, but sometimes each party puts up people that are so onerous, the "anyone but _____" choice is the best we can do.

I haven't read up on Elder's platform, but I do agree with his political commentary 99% of the time.

And that's the point. Is that really the best we can do now? If so, us bitching about who is in office, probably the ONLY point of commonality, is a sad indictment of what we've become.

Is it possible that politics has become so distasteful that most people with any intelligence, integrity or common sense won't consider going into it?

Is it possible that politics has become so distasteful that most people with any intelligence, integrity or common sense won't consider going into it? Given the last few state and national elections, I'd say that is highly possible.

Who would go into politics if your personal life is constantly under a microscope?
Something you said 15 years ago leads to damnatio memoriae... no thanks

Does he have a track record of governance or leadership at any level? When you consider what those with political experience have done to this country, not being elected dog catcher is a good thing. He did run a business: Laurence A. Elder and Associates. It is a head-hunting firm.

After waiting 8 pages to see if anyone mentioned it I guess I'll ask...what about the budget surplus you all are enjoying in CA? California Has Big Plans With Its Massive Budget SurplusThe coronavirus pandemic has been an economic catastrophe. Thousands of businesses have been shuttered, millions of Americans have lost their jobs, and even as the economy recovers, the unemployment rate remains over 6 percent—almost double the 2019 number—and surveys indicate that four in ten Americans are still economically worse off than they were at the onset of the pandemic.
This misfortune, however, did not extend to one state—California, which ended the year with a jaw-dropping $76 billion budget surplus. Other estimates have placed the number closer to $40 billion, which is considerably lower, but nonetheless much better off than other states.nationalinterest.org/blog/reboot/california-has-big-plans-its-massive-budget-surplus-189296Is it because this doesn't fit the narrative of an out-of-control incompetent governor? Good luck with your recall.
