And let's also ignore the fact the cloth material actually make the aerosols smaller and easier to spread the virus. Something akin to wearing a condom with holes in them. I'm convinced all this mask wearing (outside hospitals) is actually making the COVID situation worse, since by reducing our exposure to all kinds of outside germs and trace amounts of COVID we are weakening our immune systems and making people more susceptible to contracting COVID when exposed to a stronger viral load. I can't really speak into the immune system bit, but using basic logic, years of being raised by a doctor, and inconsistent messaging, I've concluded they're at least a contributor of the spread. First the logic piece. Unlike a car that filters the incoming air, and then expels the exhaust thru a different filtered orifice, we inhale and exhale thru the same orifice. Assuming the air was actually being effectively filtered by a mask, wouldn't you be inhaling that which was prevented from being exhaled? Where does the volume of air being exhaled go? Either out the sides in whole form, or aerosolized THRU the mask which makes it carry further, right? It's not a self contained apparatus. Dad was really good at imparting common sense at me throughout my life when it came to taking care of myself. Simply, when you're sick...keep away from others. When others are sick...keep away from them. He must have been an early denier of asymptomatic spread. Lastly, the medical community came out in the early going saying that healthy people shouldn't wear masks. Made sense at the time, but then that changed into wear pretty much anything to stop the spread. 1+1+1=3

Given that surgeons routinely wear masks to prevent the spread of infections you don't see any problem with your "logic"?

If Isaac Newton were a contributor to this board and commented that gravity exerts a pull of 9.81 m/s/s, he'd be asked from whence he draws his expertise on calculus...................Luca If Isaac Newton were a contributor to this board and had stated that gravity exerts a pull of 9.81 m/s/s, he'd be asked how he knew about the metric system. That is an excellent point. Agreed. But I wouldn't have asked him myself because, as you may know, he was one of the most disagreeable people on God's earth in his time. It has always struck me as ironic that he of all people made the observation that "Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy."

I guess it's too much to ask that geniuses be charming, but at least he seems to have been aware of his shortcomings.
