The Military wanted to send the 82nd airborne to take back the huge air base that we gave to the Afghan Army but the WH said no. Almost no planes left today as the Taliban is treating to shoot down planes with our own weapons. Why we gave up that airbase before the 31st???

You wouldn't think that it bears repeating, pagan, but you need to recall that on 9/11/2001 Al Quaeda attacked the US and killed over 2000 Americans. The Taliban was shielding AQ and Osama bin Laden. They were given the chance to turn him over but they didn't. There was no alternative to going in to 1) get Bin Laden and 2) overthrow the Taliban if feasible. I'm not sure what you think should have been, perhaps issuing a strongly worded rebuke in the UN or instituting "sanctions" or whatever, but going into Afghanistan was unavoidable.
After a few years it should have been clear that there was no point in staying. Approximately 17 or so years after it was increasingly clear that we should get out, 6 of those years were under Bush and 8 years under Obama, all the while with increasing evidence that there was no point in staying. Trump was in for four years and he finally did initiate steps to get out. But it was a controlled exit with quid pro quos dependent on the Taliban's response and not this incompetent cut and run that our current president instituted.
To try to blame this current fiasco on either George Bush or Donald Trump is nonsense and everybody knows it. Trying to claim otherwise just makes it clear that you're reflexively adopting somebody else's talking points. EVERYBODY the world over - read the news, for God's sake - knows that "Clueless Joe" Biden took the best remaining option and turned into a clusterf--k of biblical proportions. And it will have disastrous residuals that are on him alone............Luca

You can't blame a two-year old for crapping the bed when they don't have the mental capacity to avoid it. This is on Jill Biden and the rest of Joe's puppeteers at least as much as it's on him. |
