Some pretty ugly allegations in Monarch-ville.

This was the lengthy - list article on high school sport I have ever seen. Can't comment, I know some, not some. Yes, boys will be boys..... but I think this ramped up HSF stuff is gonna end sadly.

Disappointing to see him go out like this if it's true. Unless the dad of player 1 is a flat out liar, the flippant response will be the focal point. That and the training staff response to a kid that's bleeding being subordinate to taping ankle.
I know some parents exaggerate to the point of flat out lies, and hope for MD's that's the case here.

If these incredibly detailed allegations are true (and there seems to be video to back them up), then one of two things are clear: either Rollinson lied about his knowledge of the "Bodies" practice, or he's clueless about some pretty horrific things going on under his watch. Under neither option can he continue to be employed by Mater Dei. And that doesn't even address the stone-walling and lack of accountability on the part of the administration. Sounds like the Principal, V.P., and at least one trainer need to go as well. Is the administration just going to pretend none of this happened (or take the "we can't comment on an ongoing investigation" route) and brass it out until after Friday's game? Their honor is on the line--not to mention a potential multi-million $ lawsuit.

Trouble with lawsuits like this is your atty will pretty much tell you to keep your mouth shut, and let him craft the public response, if any.
Public opinion will run rampant and go in all kinds of directions, and MD reputation takes a real hit. I'd bet a succession plan is in the works over there.
In the end, both parties will likely reach a settlement that includes a NDA, and no one will really know what took place, except for the individuals involved.
What I don't get is why there would ever be tacit approval of allowing body blows in the first place. There's got to be some pretty big downside to that.

The most hit-piece article I’ve seen since Portnoy’s last week, wow.
Goodluck on those suits… also felony battery for mutual combat? That’s laugh out loud funny.

Well had to figure Sondy was gonna throw this out there this AM....., so far he is playing it smart by not making any real comment or taking and opine or position. As we see in so many instances, the action or crime takes back seat to the cover-up..., can't but help to think Penn State - Paterno. This is very unfortunate news, and there would never be a good time for such news, but during the week of the biggest game, NATIONALLY.

Now imagine the headline if it was a black kid getting pummeled by a white kid instead of the other way around. I didn't see where the DA filed criminal charges on player 2.

[young] OC DA’s are notorious for this type of behavior. They throw the book at the defendant but end up with a much lesser charge.
Fun example, had an acquaintance get in a fight at a Newport Beach bar after he pulled sunglasses off another mans face and threw them across the bar. He was initially charged with felony robbery. At his first hearing, the judge laughed in the DA’s face and asked him “have you ever been drunk before?”
Dude walked out with a misdemeanor charge and 10 hours of community service…
Ultimately, throwing the book makes sense as you can only reduce a charge, not “upgrade” it.

I know Rollo on a personal level. He's a good man and he loves Mater Dei. This has to be killing him. I feel bad for both parties. The timing is terrible for all involved, including Servite.

The timing is terrible because it's incredibly suspect.

The timing is terrible because it's incredibly suspect. I haven't heard the term used in a long time, but there used to be a concept in business marketing and promotions called Timing for Greatest Impact, or TGI. It was the strategy of releasing a new product or advertising campaign when it would have the greatest positive impact on sales and profits. A good example is the release of blockbuster movies just before Memorial Day and the 4th of July. Maybe this is another example of TGI.

The more I read about this, the less I think this is a Rollo issue, and more I think it's an Admin issue.

Perhaps if the proper steps were taken at the time it wouldn't have gotten to this point. The real questions is, "Is it true?" That's all that matters.
