I putt at @ this, and where I draw (any) line or lines.... MINOR or ADULT? If any instance mentioned in any thread or article to date on any of this... is a minor under supervision of adults...... call it guilty, call it bad , call in inrehensible, I am on that side of the defense. Most of you here are my age or a bit older, adult supervision and responsibility was present, responsible and watching. Not often would they let BS like this happen to minors while they sat by and watched. And if they did, that wasn't part of anything in my community as a child. SK80, Can I assume you are deep into that bottle of Pinhook Kentucky straight Bourbon Whiskey?...Because I couldn't make heads or tails out of that post.

When I saw his post about the school having "a long history of trying to F kids who transfer out", I texted him asking for one or two examples. Since it's a "long history", I assumed a few examples would be easy. I'm still waiting for him to respond with a name. Just to keep things updated, it's been more than 48 hours and I'm still waiting for one name from the long history of Mater Dei trying to F kids who transfer out. Conversely, I thought this morning about the kids the school didn't try to F when they left. Just off the top of my head I came up with these in the last ten years who went on to become big-time players elsewhere: Mykal Tolliver - St. John Bosco & Hawaii Sire Woods - La Mirada & Penn Chris Henry - L.A. Hamilton & Oregon St. Jojo Forrest - Mission Viejo & Oregon St. John Jackson - Serra & USC Matt McDonald - Mission Viejo & Boston College Trent McDuffie - Servite/St. John Bosco & Washington Clyde Moore - Corona del Mar & Colorado Nakue Olotoa - Orange Lutheran & UNLV Jojuan Collins - Narbonne, 3-star recruit Jeminai Leuta-Ulu - Servite & UNLV Titus Toler - Servite/St. John Bosco & Wisconsin Brayden Zermeno - Loyola & Princeton Zion Alefosio - Villa Park, 3-star recruit Syrr Barnes - Mission Viejo, 2-star recruit Zamajay Duncan - JSerra/S.D. Lincoln & Idaho Jaden Genova - JSerra & Army Jeffrey Persi - JSerra & Michigan Chris Street - JSerra & Cal Bryson Washington - King TX & Oklahoma Darion Green-Warren - Narbonne & Michigan Elias Ricks - IMG & LSU Jacob Tuioti - L.B. Poly & Army Elijah Barclay - Salpointe AZ, 3-star recruit Beau Green - Turlock, 2-star recruit In addition, there have been many other kids who weren't F'd out of leaving. They weren't big-time recruits, but they left and started for other schools. Isaiah Banks, DeMario King, Thomas and Tyler Kinslow (Centennial), Isaiah Leuta-Ulu (Servite), Tanner Nelson (Edison), Sivea Vita-Logoleo (Bosco), Joseph Wiersma, Carter Freedland (Centennial), Sedric Hill (Edison), E.J. Ginnis (Edison), William Shaw (Newport Harbord or Corona del Mar?), Tanner Salisbury (San Ramon Valley), Brady Sarkisian, Ashton Hurley, Gage Grant and more. That's my list. Now I just have to hear about all the kids we F'd from leaving?

The starting QBs this year for Edison and Tustin transferred from MD. But yeah I guess MD screwed both of them too.

The starting QBs at Cypress & Downey both came from Los Al.
We do the same thing...help them with their paperwork.

This above posts have become a red herring for MD supporters to deflect from this ugly incident which demands a change of leadership--at both the administrative and coaching levels.
The fact that one can name 40 kids who in recent years left Mater Dei to start at other schools and then go on to college is more revealing of the absolute embarrassment of riches that comes along with the transformation of its football program into an IMG-style system that cares about dominating above all other concerns. That you could make a CIF championship contender out of just the kids who left Mater Dei is a joke. All perspective has been lost.
This program--as it's currently constituted--doesn't belong in high school football. They were expected to win it all this year--without any real competition--and this was reflected in the lack of elation by their fans following last Friday's game. It was almost as if winning the CIF title was more a relief than anything else. Good Lord, how could you not win with 30+ FBS kids on the roster? Ho-hum...another title.

Wow! This is even worse than I originally thought, and this tweet by LA Times reporter Bill Plaschke is bad enough, but if you click on its link to the LA Times full story, you will be stunned. Plaschke pulls no punches, and you can tell that he is stunned by what he saw in the (two?) videos. I highly recommend reading the article, that the tweet links to.

How is this considered in any way "hazing"?

orangecountyda.org/civica/press/ ... Entry=6198 Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer Issues Statement on Fight that Occurred in a Mater Dei High School Boys’ Locker Room SANTA ANA, Calif. – Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer issued the following statement: The Orange County District Attorney’s Office does not normally comment on investigations involving juveniles. However, the facts surrounding the situation that occurred in a Mater Dei High School boys’ locker room involving two teenage football players has been so erroneously reported by the media we have no choice but to correct the record and provide the accurate facts. Neither player involved in this fight was made to participate against their will. Other players in the locker room were seen milling around, playing on their phones, and largely uninterested in the punches being thrown by two of their teammates. The participants knew they were being filmed and they started throwing punches. Some punches landed; others did not, but it is unequivocally clear that both participants attempted to land as many punches as possible. There is not a single shred of evidence to show that this was anything other than a mutual combat situation with two willing participants who traded blow for blow, including repeated punches to each other’s heads. That does not make it acceptable. But it is not a crime. At no time did one of the players in the fight tell the other player to stop, even when the punches became head shots and attempted head shots. When another player said stop, both players stopped throwing punches. Two boys on the Mater Dei football team engaged in behavior that betrays the values of youth sports. CIF, the governing body of high school sports in California, has the motto “Dedicated to developing student-athletes of character.” What happened in the Mater Dei locker room on February 4, 2021 is nothing anyone should be proud of and it falls short of the kind of character any of us should wish for our children. This incident has been thoroughly investigated by law enforcement and reviewed blow by blow by the most experienced prosecutors in my office to see if we could prove a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. We cannot. Schools must remain safe places for our children to thrive and learn – and to develop the character that we want to see in all of our children. Watching two children trade blow for blow in a locker room environment should be unsettling for everyone. It was for me. And as the elected District Attorney of Orange County, I have and will continue to protect our children from harm. The safety of our children is all of our responsibility. At this point, there is no evidence of hazing or any other crime that we can prove beyond a reasonable doubt. As the Orange County District Attorney, I have and continue to be willing to review any and all information related to this incident and any incident involving potential hazing in our schools. Hazing in any form is unacceptable and if I can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that anyone – whether a player, a coach, or a school administrator – has engaged in or condoned hazing, I will hold them accountable.

Not to toot my own horn, but did I not call this?
(Yes, I know, this was a painfully obvious case)

It was almost as if winning the CIF title was more a relief than anything else. I beg to differ and so do the other MD supporters I know and associate with. On the contrary we were very elated. But keep hating and thinking we are not happy to win a championship. This one is extra special for two reasons, everybody so badly wanted MD to lose and we raised the trophy after beating our biggest rival.
