There is plenty to tag on Trump himself, but the IDEA that you state was always a a threat to the Washington power structure status quo..., , MD's politics are "spot on" & "spot off" just like the rest of us. Many of his critiques on Trump I agree with and some I do not. This board will likely be a microcosm of the nation or Republic Party as a whole... divided. I like DeSantis alot, in fact I have been on his wagon since the beginning of Covid as I thought he navigated the crisis as I would have, unlike the dweeb in Sacramento. However, if he runs and Trump beats him fair and square I can not see myself abandoning Trump or the party and let the opposition just skate into another 4 years to repeat, double down on the inane policies enacted and likely more enacting to come which in my opine is a danger to our nation. Let's face it, in many a way we are in between a rock and a hard place. It's unfortunate the Republicans don't have better political strategies like their opponents, Dems will easily coalese around a candidate and NOT allow it to eat itself. I give them credit on playing the game. A power figure like Schumer or Pelosi runs the party to perfection, better term, "CONTROLS" the party to perfection. I think the R's need stronger leadership in Congress and the Senate at the TOP. |

Bick - Trump has made remarks against DeSantis. That is discouraging. I like them both and it was a ding against Trump.

I don't blame Desantis for distancing himself from Trump. They're political rivals, and I'd bet trump would do the same, if not worse.Trump HAS done worse. He rams insulting verbal jabs up DeSantis' ass almost daily in his speeches or tweets, yet when DeSantis makes one statement that everyone agrees with and doesn't even mention Trump, he's raked over the coals for it. Sounds like a bit of a double standard among conservatives to me. |

The left his probably hoping to lock up DeSantis too, if it looks like he will be the nominee. I agree, Fauci should have been gone early on. But on the economy and the wars, I think Trump will do a better job.

I confess I haven't spent much time evaluating Desantis, but I really haven't read any loony rants like we clearly have with Trump.

Trump has a track record as President. Personally, I like what he did and what he didn't do.

I like what he did as president also. But his childish antics turned me sour on him. Best way to say it is he lost my trust.

It would be more accurate to ask, "If there are two doctors who can save your life, would you want the rational, common sense adult, or the egotistical, narcissitic, petulant child who flies off the handle every few minutes and always lets his temper overrule his better judgement?" |

I trust Trump to make the right decisions on the economic issues. Trump could be up and running quicker, I think. I do like DeSantis, and he would be my second choice.
One thing I don't like about Trump: When he is obviously wrong, he can dig himself in deeper. Like with the vaccines.
DeSantis didn't come out strongly against funding the war until Tucker Carlson requested a response. Now he jumped on the bandwagon. Before he hinted otherwise.

Just so we're clear, I like the concept of putting America first, and believe that's what he wants.Trump didn't just use that "America First" concept as silly slogan but a belief that he wore on his sleeve. Right or wrong, arse or not, he had my best interest and our nations under his leadership. I like DeSantis, and I'll state it again, if I could put my own ticket on top and in the White House it would be DeSantis-Paul, two very competent leaders. |

Bick - Leadership. Trump put together groups of individuals to make decisions. DeSantis does it too, and I like his SG. I just think Trump will do a better job.
As per Economic policy - His policy with China and trade. Plus, IMO energy prices drive our economy. He kept them low.
What do you think he did wrong? The wall? China? His lack of war? I think those were all good. What did he do wrong, other than listen to Fauci?
