Only if you make the mistake of projecting today's values and morals back to those times.  When the scriptures were written, and when the Constitution was debated and ratified, slavery was a normal, global reality.


Or because it was normal to do so at the time.  What if a hundred years from now our society decides that dogs and cats are sentient beings and deserving of civil rights?  Would be right in that future to view those of us living today as slaveowners because we owned a dog or cat?


Because some things are so obviously common sense, or so blatantly right or wrong, that they can't be legislated away.  A mentally ill man who thinks he's a woman, and takes hormones and cuts off his dick to indulge his delusion, is still a mentally ill man.  I am under no obligaton to indulge that delusion along with him.  As with any mentally ill person, he deserves the same empathy, rights and treatment support other mentally ill people deserve.  However, his delusion doesn't give him the right to crush real women in athletic competition, to strut around naked in women's locker rooms, or to walk into the same restroom as my young granddaughters.  Even if all 50 states legislate their "acceptance of sexuality we believe crosses yet another line" it doesn't change biological reality.

I believe morality stems from religion.  If it doesn't, then it is completely arbitrary.  If there are no religion-based moral reasons for our societal rules, then they are all open to challenge.  Without religious morality, why should murder be illegal, or rape, or robbery, or child molestation?  The left has made great strides in destroying the religious basis for our laws that define right and wrong, and now it's fair game for anything to be declared legal or illegal at the whim of whoever is in power at the time.
