Why do I get the feeling like I’m trying to discuss classical music with a bunch of Metallica enthusiasts?.......................Luca Fordama, is that you? Well, no, because I put it as a question. If I were actually Fordama I would have made it a pronouncement - revealed wisdom, you might say – and if you questioned it I would have told you it's up to you to prove I'm wrong.

There are a great many things my mind is just too small or inadequate to consider, including: - Fusion reaction
- Suspension bridges structural integrity
- The popularity of a knuckle dragger like Hillary Clinton...
So, it should come as no surprise, I cannot figure out what God was thinking.
for example, a great big, seemingly endless universe, and WE are “it?” This planet, out of what we currently believe are billions of planet, is the only one with semi-intelligent life? Why would He do that.
God does nothing without a plan, and obviously we,are part of that plan, but He could have accomplished the same things MUCH more expediently with a smaller, maybe finite universe.

If I had an Interview with God, that would have been one of my questions. If we are the only life in the universe, what was the purpose of making all those other stars? Give astronomers something to do? Make a basis for a children's bedtime song? Provide a nice backdrop that can only be seen at night...in the desert? Or provide a daily reminder of what should be our humility?

He would probably answer something like "Give rich guys a playing field to explore and conquer with their rich guy toys...!"

This just in... I read a short article on a sun-like star, 1400 light years away, called Kepler 452, because the Kepler telescope first spotted it. It is a little bigger than our sun, gives off about the same energy as our sun, so my next thought, of course, was, “what about earth-like planets orbiting it?” Yes, they believe there is. According to this article, NASA spies Earth-sized exoplanet orbiting Sun-like star, So Kepler 452b (ñame given the planet) circles a sun IN what is called the “habitable” zone, and is rocky and could have liquid water... so my NEXT question, of course, is...

O.K. My imagination is triggered (again) at this news. Some Scientists Believe Black Holes Are Portals...Holy Deep Space Nine, Batman... was Gene Roddenberry a prophet? As I read the article, my mind s flooded with all the possibilities, many of which, I confess, did originate with one or more Star Trek episodes... What do you think?

I think you may have taken too many "phasers on stun" hits. I have heard, though, that many of Roddenberry's ideas had some validity to them, They weren't just off the wall science fiction........................Luca

I, too, have heard there was some science behind his series, but, yes, it is all ultimately conjecture, including using those portals to leap to a different dimension.

Another article, this time from The Medium talks generally about the concept as it has been viewed through the ages: It then goes on to show historical figures and their thoughts on the topic.

I agree that people have wondered for centuries if there is intelligent life on other planets. However, with each passing day, we have to wonder if there is any on this one.
