Since about this time, last year, my 401K has lost almost 1%. This is the first time it has lost. Dave you need a new money manager... looking back one year, this time, November 2020-21 has been a historic rise..... what fiscal train are you on? Both major averages are up 20% (DOW) and 29%(Nasdaq) respectfully. I'm sitting to date at 21% increase in my IRA. I'll admit I am more aggressive than most for my age, but it would be hard to fathom taking a 1% loss in a market environment as this. Are you 99% in Bonds?

Crap. Thanks for pointing that out.

I hate to bring grade-school arithmetic into this again, but if it's a trillion-dollar bill, and if $281 billion goes toward roads, bridges, major surface transportation projects, passenger rail (that nobody will ride), public transit (which nobody will ride), pedestrian walkways (which nobody will use) and clean drinking water, where does the remaining $719 billion go? GREAT question... I suppose they had to pass it to know what's in it.

But that word "bipartisan" concerns me. OF course, this IS the LA Times, but reading the article makes it sound like the two "partisan" sides that agreed were progressive democrats and moderate democrats. Very little mention of republicans supporting it. 13 Republicans in the House voted for it.

GREAT question... I suppose they had to pass it to know what's in it. Found another article that goes into it a little deeper: - $110 billion for roads and bridges
- $66 billion for railroads
- $65 billion for the power grid
- $65 billion for broadband
- $55 billion for water infrastructure
- $47 billion for cybersecurity and climate change (non idea why these two are joined together)
- $39 billion for public transit
- $25 billion for airports
- $21 billion for the environment (apparently a separate problem from climate change)
- $17 billion for ports
- $11 billion for safety
- $8 billion for western water infrastructure
- $7.5 bill for electric vehicle charging stations 🤣
- $7.5 billion for electric school buse (which ought to buy 3 or 4
What's in the $1.2 Trillion Bipartisan Bill

A few observations from those numbers:
Those items add up to $538 billion, or only 45% of the $1.2 trillion total. Where does the remaining majority of the money go? "Safety" is not infrastructure. Climate change is on the list twice, and it's not infrastructure. Water infrastructure and western water infrastructure funded separately. Why? Is western water different from regular water?
Like most spending bills, politicians can say they're serving you quinoa and kale, but if you look at your plate it's almost all pork.

That is absolutely terrifying. How is our modern media any different from Pravda?

The problem isn't just the price increases. The bigger problem is shortages. If I don't have product to sell. If the other vendors don't have product to sell. Even US manufacturers have had trouble. You want a car? The computer is made overseas. You want a widget, the spring might be made overseas. Plus labor shortages.
The big problem will be a product shortage, I think.
