I follow Mike (“Fordama”) on Twitter. He is alive and well, but all I see of him there are either posts about HS or College sports, or the liberal mantra currently espoused by the democrat trump-haters. When I confront him, he gets defensive.
TLib (the libertarian) actually owned a community where I participated. It went down the tubes and I lost track of Dan (theLibertarian).
SLK230 joined the community where I am a moderator but it was slowly dying and Al (SLK230) quit coming around. He did, sometime later, reach out to me to assure me JQP would welcome me back to TOB should I so desire. I did not.
Omar Bongo was, so far as I could ascertain, Parrot Paul who adopted several such nom de guerre... he lived in Laguna Niguel. He met JQP at some charity event they both attended.
You mentioned Vilepagan . Some of you might recall JQP contacted him in another forum to ask him how he got rid of me, there. They confabbed privately and, the next thing I knew, he had joined TOB. In short order, he was made a moderator and I was suddenly on double secret probation, violating rules that were made up just for me. You all know the rest: I was banned and I’ve never been back.
So that’s almost all I know about that... and I could be wrong about much of it.

Our boycott of TOB began on Jan. 19. Omar Bongo posted several times on Jan. 20, and then he disappeared. He last visited the board without posting on Jan. 29. Very strange indeed. I actually PM'd him from TOB maybe ten days ago just to express my hope that he had not taken seriously ill or something. No response.Interesting side note: after my banning I also reached out to some of the libs on political side of TOB, on the chance they might be fair-minded enough to have some sway with JQP. The results: Fordama: sympathetic (the one guy there who would grudgingly acknowledge a point well made; he also posted on the H.S. side) Vilepagan: no response Wabash: "his rules, his board" |

Now why didn't I think of that. If the number of topics grows to the point of needing some type of separation, we could deal with it at that time. Works for me. I’m with MDDad but I will go so far as to suggest we create a High School Sports and I will also confess I have a bias here. regrettably, my bias is not for OC high school sports, but here in Central Illinois, I seem to have stumbled into a part time side job as a HS sports announcer for a local radio station. So far, I have covered local professional (not MLB OR minor league) baseball and all local HS football games on a rotating basis. So, while I won’t have a lot to give towards an OC high school football, I have a ton of anecdotes and insights about Central Illinois HS football. Thoughts? |

We are pretty side OC driven guys.... but we also love things all high school and all sport. Maybe an OCHS Sport Forum with a National thread or "pinned" ongoing discussion thread.
Question to those whom started this as I was an invitee, my understanding is that you boycotted the political forum eternally and the sports side for 30 days? And if you were to back it would be only on the High School Forum?

Wow this really is a reunion. Welcome Dave. Remember reading your takes from the early days of TOB, and I think the old OC Register board - aka the wild west. Some real characters back then. Prof...i didn't know you were Lion Hunter. I think we once talked about the old Angelus league from my brief stay at St Anthony's in the very early 70's You have a great memory, Bick... even I had forgotten those old OCRegisyer boards. Hard to believe we glommed onto TOB as our savior when they closed down those old boards. |

Lots of football guys here, and it would be great to here about life outside OC. Frankly, knowing the size of every player's jockstrap in OC gets into the TMI category. I would most definitely like to hear about the sports announcing bit. |

We conversed a few times on the Elite Politics board but I found that one awfully cumbersome to use and didn't have the time to spend on it I didn't know that JQ had recruited VilePagan for that very purpose. How do you know that? Initially the pagan seemed to be a pretty reasonable guy, but he got progressively more vindictive as time went on. I still look back and laugh on that sequence of posts we had regarding trying to steal the 2004 election and using the super secret pig Latin code so our nefarious plot wouldn't be discovered. It did seem to piss off a few of the dedicated leftists, so it was well worth the effort . Stay warm in that vast wasteland known as the Midwest Luca |

Stay warm in that vast wasteland known as the Midwest Luca There was another bulletin board community I joined and Vilepagan ruled it with an iron fist, so everything I posted there was ridiculed and disparaged amd, after a couple of months, I announced my swan song and left. Then, thinking I should delete my account, I went back in to do so and happened to see a post from a TOB poster using a screen name “butterfly” (who we knew as JQP’s minion, Parrot Paul, I found out later) Asking Vilepagan how he got me to leave. VP responded he would talk to “Butterfly” off line about it so that was the end of the public posts. less than a week later, VilePagan, who had zero interest in Orange County, by his own admission, appeared in TOB under a different screen name but changed it to VilePagan right about the time JQP made him a moderator. That was the point I magically started transgressing rules that hadn’t been rules prior to my transgressing them (for example, we were suddenly not allowed to remonstrate if we received demerits or whatever they were called)... two weeks later, I was suspended for a week and told the new rule, that there was no starting fresh... that one more transgression, I would be suspended for two weeks, and one more after that, banned... which, as we all know, actually happened. |

I must really be naive. It would never occur to me to have to bring on someone to act as a mod to send someone else off the island. I also think this suspension stuff is pretty comical as well.
