The future is indeed bright Friar Fans.... There is much to be said about coaching here, certainly getting the best out of the players you have. This should also enable Service to pull from a talent pool that they certainly must compete in against the other Trinity's. For some time it seemed it would be JS that may crack the MD strangle hold, just maybe it may be the Friars. Young core players and a coach whom can lead.

They went three to four weeks before putting anything up at all. SC finally put their stats up. They did post or edit or change the penalty count. CDM 16 SC 6. I was curious about SC as they played all SD schools. The Tesoro game was going to be a better barometer, they appeared to have dominated Tesoro. The super transfer from Long Beach all purpose player and QB Billoups had five TD's, 2 passing, 2 rushing and 1 INT. Against CDM he had less than 100 yards passing and only 18 yards rushing. CDM's offense gets all the accolades but the guys on the defensive side are getting the job done too. Looks like Tesoro crossing a super soft schedule bit them on the road against a quality opponent.

I thought Servite's last coach was pretty good. You saying he wasn't quite ready for the Trinity league stage?

Meyer walked into the Trinity when the foundation for the new era was already built..., coming from a public he didn't know what hit him. Same goes for O' Shea when he saw a so-so team like JS in Trinity as a good opponent. Three months after he signed on JS replaced a coaching staff which in return recruited a new team. Meyer took a bunch of local kids, (non transfer types) and set a state record for first team to go 16-0 and winning a state championship. I would say he is a pretty darn good coach. These are not my words either but for the past few years almost every Service guy on various boards has admitted the program just was not committed the way SJB and MD had gone. No coach was going to compete in that league without it.

I'd send my kids to play for TT in a heartbeat.

Will be interesting to see how both Servite and Bosco react to this game. Last night may have some similarities to last year's Trinity League opener when Bosco was almost beaten at home by JSerra, only to see them rebound to win the regular season title. They certainly have the talent to do so.
Hard to see the Friars duplicating this performance against Mater Dei--but I'm a pessimist by nature in these sorts of things. The real test for Servite will be JSerra, who has dominated us in recent years.
Either way, I love the fight in these young Friars.

I suspect we took Bosco by surprise, despite the fact that we nearly beat them in 7 on 7 also, (losing there by one point also, after missing a 2 point conversion for the win). Our boys believed they could beat the Braves...and nearly did. This game against Mater Dei is a horse of different color. Mater Dei won't be taken by surprise. Our secret is out. Do the boys believe? It will indeed be interesting to see how the Bosco/J Serra game plays out. J Serra is the test that will determine our future this season. If we win that one, it's 3rd place, and the D1 playoffs. If we lose, it's 4th place and we become one of the top seeds in D2. Of course, if we upset Mater Dei, nothing else will matter.

How's Jake Overman doing? Was it a serious foot/ankle injury or just a sprain?

Cool runnings..... some parody! I'm excited..! I knew at the MV 7v7 when I saw the CDM-Servite semi-final that Servite was on the ups. CDM beat Servite the lost in the finals to SBJ..., simply ran outta gas. Although I have no horse in the race come Trinity I am fine with calling it what it is and trying to enjoy for that. Would be great if MD-SJB-JS-Servite are all more on par. Right now however all I see is MD firing on all cylinders..... the future looks very interesting...!

@notas Not crying about the 16 penalties in the least. Simply made the point whether refs were biased or CDM self inflicted without that imbalance the game was not as close as the scoreboard indicated. O' Shea even in his post game interview took responsibility that it is an issue after a game like that and it can't happen again. He also stated that the last 2 (of 3) SC TD's were results of those penalties. That aside, CDM put 42 points on the board, had over 500 yards, (518 Total, 552 Total) and their QB was 32 0f 41 .780 % w/ 4 TD's. This was against a top 20 California State team that was 5-0 and had average a total of 10 points against in its 5 wins. Thanks for pointing out the Schlom omission. Sure he is not going to be happy about that! And thanks for the encouragemnet going the rest of the way..... one game at a time. Grace Brethren game plan........ keep your O on the field,,,,,keep their O off the field,,,,, run over their face into the fourth,,,, now if any can be that disciplined, they deserve to win,,,,,any game
