I was thinking it might be fun to compile a Top 10 each week using a 10 point scale.
Due each Sunday by 6, compiled and posted by 9?
Preseason final due 7/21?
Anyone interested can vote.
Sounds like fun??

10 point scale as in 1-10? Each poster? Then we add the points up and have our Top 10 posted on Monday?

Yep... Just like they used to at the OC Register.
Probably should do some kind of pick pool also.

What would it be measured against?
Picking games or just a Top 10 ranking each week?

What would it be measured against? Picking games or just a Top 10 ranking each week? 2 separate things. One would be a OCPS Top 10 compilation ala the OC Varsity / LA Times Top 10. The other would be a pick 'em contest each week.

Are there any more 7v7 tournaments that would need to play out before we're ready to do the preseason Top 10?
If not, let's get going on the voting.
Maybe we could also include comments on teams you're familiar with. # of commits, newcomers, etc?

Well Albano has gone on record.......,
Yes, it’s not even the middle of July yet. But remember, the high school football season starts earlier now, so it’s time to start ranking teams.
Here’s my Orange County preseason top 10 rankings entering the Mission Viejo passing tournament on Saturday, July 13:
Albano’s preseason O.C. Top 10 (7-12-19)
1. Mater Dei
2. JSerra
3. Mission Viejo
4. Corona del Mar
5. La Habra
6. Villa Park
7. Servite
8. Los Alamitos
9. Orange Lutheran
10. Santa Margarita

One thing should be pointed out. There are lineman competitions, and then there are lineman competitions. The Men In The Trenches competition in Costa Mesa two months ago featured actual lineman activities like blocking, pass protection, rushing the passer, one-on-one battles, etc. The Mission Viejo competition included pushing a sled, lifting weights, flipping tires and pulling on a rope. Done of those things happen during a game, and they provide little evidence as to which linemen are better than others.
But at least they've eliminated the hot dog eating contest as part of the competition.
