1964-1988 and 2005-the present = 38 years closely, plus a few years not so closely.

Lol. How many combined years of closely following OC HS football would you say we 8 voters have? I'm good for 15 years It depends on the meaning of the word closely is! As a kid my dad took me to my first HS Football game, it was in 1967 La Habra High School. I was hooked on Friday Nights ever since and have been pretty astute at staying on top of game. Been even more so invested in my alma mater in which I attended in the 70's yet went to those games in grade and JR HS.

How about following close enough to offer a relatively objective opinion of the top teams in OC?

1965 to 1971 (7) closely. 1972 to 1996 (25) casually. 1997 to 2001 (5) closely. 2002 to present (18) part of a program.

How about following close enough to offer a relatively objective opinion of the top teams in OC? Went to OC HS games in 70's Went to OC HS and JC games in early 80's Played in late 80's Watched my brothers play in early 90's Came back from the Army in 00's Closely following the family business since Pretty objective, even if "my" schools are playing "their" rivals Still cant stand VP(then and now), and to a lesser a extent Lost Almond-Cheetos.......

That's a pretty good resume there oc football.
I hear you with the rivalry thing. Have had this aversion to peas and corn since the Walker SR HS days. At least now the bad guys have lightning bolts on their hats instead of leprechauns...so they've got that going for them. Just going to need more than a double A charge to make much noise in the sunset this year.
But...if they can figure how to bring a lightning charge with you on Oct 11, they've got a good shot, as you know how that opponent handles lightning. 🌩️😏

Lost Almond Cheetos? That’s lame. I’m not a fan of VP either. Hated Los Al under Barnes. LA is totally different today. Don’t like Mission Viejo, especially under BJ. I like the teams that do more with less. I do love MD of the 90s, FV/Edison, and the Pit (best stadium in the OC along with Eddie West and OCC).

My mom has been divorced from my dad for almost 40 years.....she still calls him a MFer when he was HC at Los Amigos in the 70's,,,old school GGL when Bolsa players wore Kiss make up....scared crap out me as a young ball boy,,,,,
Also, here's a little known OC FB fact...... former legendary Kansas St head coach, Bill Snyder, was the head coach of Foothill HS in early 70's..... before he linked up with Hayden Fry at North Texas....
I apologize for some of my lame rantings last,,,,insomnia, good whiskey, and HS FB messages can kill.............. Im just glad the season has started again!

MAXPREPS released their PRESEASON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TOP 100 this week....., OC's own MATER DEI is their pick for #1....... Here is the link to the nations top 100 according to MP.... www.maxpreps.com/news/kBJ0M4ukqkafzNl3mtK-Fw/maxpreps-2019-preseason-top-100-high-school-football-teams.htmWith approximately 37,000 secondary public and private schools I have to say I am very proud of my alma mater here on this list.... {insert "thumbs up" emoji here} I'll list the CIF SS teams for quick reference: 1. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)The back-to-back CIF Open Division state champs are loaded once again in 2019 led by 5-star quarterback Bryce Young, 5-star linebacker Raesjon Davis and 2020 Washington commit Myles Murao. 3. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.)DJ Uiagalelei leads the way for one of the most explosive offenses in high school football that features Kris Hutson, Logan Loya, Beaux Collins and Nate Jones. 12. Centennial (Corona, Calif.)Corona Centennial gets a chance to show why it's the best team in California right off the bat when the Huskies open up against No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana). 27. Narbonne (Harbor City, Calif.)One of the most talented teams in the country and they added Darion Green-Warren, Traeshon Holden, Macen Williams, Jared Greenfield and Anthony Beavers Jr. to a team that came close to competing for a CIF state title. 33. Mission Viejo (Calif.)Chad Johnson had one of the toughest jobs in the country last year replacing legendary head coach Bob Johnson at the helm. Expect the Diablos to be even better this season, especially with 2021 quarterback Peter Costelli under center for the next two seasons. 40. Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.)The Lions' lone loss last year came against St. John Bosco in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinals. With Ethan Calvert, Bryce Farrell, Alonzo Fontenette and Westlake transfer Patrick Roberg under center, they have a chance to win at least 11 games for the fourth time in the last five 48. JSerra (San Juan Capistrano)
This could be the best of a long line of talented Lions teams, led by 2020 California commit Chris Street, 2020 Michigan commit Jeffrey Persi, 2021 linebacker Jaden Genova and 2021 quarterback General Booty. 51. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.)While the basketball team is making all the headlines expect the football squad to be equally as successful. After falling short in the CIF division 1-A state championship last year, the Trailblazers will be in the mix again with DJ Harvey, Chayden Peery, Kamari Ramsey and JD Sumlin leading the way. 55. Upland (Calif.)Darryl Thomas has been on the Highlanders' coaching staff the past seven years and takes over as head coach after the legendary Tim Salter retired. You can expect Thomas to lean on one of the most talented defenses in the state led by 5-star Justin Flowe and 4-star Jonathan Flowe. 62. Serra (Gardena, Calif.)The Cavaliers have been a talent pipeline and this year's squad has big-time players including LV Bunkley-Shelton, Justin Houston, Maalik Murphy, Doug Brumfield, Ronald Gilliam and Devyn King. 65. Calabasas (Calif.)Despite Jermaine Burton transferring to IMG Academy, the Coyotes will have one of the most explosive offenses in the country led by Johnny Wilson, Jaden Casey, Larry Turner and Jyden King. 95. Corona del Mar (Newport Beach, Calif.)Ethan Garbers, John Humphreys, Mark Redman, Bradley Schlom and Jason Vicencio give the Sea Kings one of the top offenses in California.
