Seems like an awful lot of people dying, and ships, planes, for it to be a big nothing burger. We need data & facts about how many have been/are infected, and how many mortalities there really are. Who are the people that are more likely to die from an infection would also be helpful. I suspect the very old and very young and any with compromised immunity. Until we get this information from a non-biased source, we're barking at the moon and guessing, freaking out for no reason. |

It seems that our friend China is very very worried about ... Not this new virus BUT... wait for it - drum rolls - - - - - - - The people of China are under siege from the coronavirus, with thousands of cases reported and the death toll rising, prompting quarantines and travel restrictions.
But the Chinese Communist Party still apparently has time to attack poetry.
Specifically, the target is the religious couplets families display to celebrate Chinese New Year.
"Throughout China, local governments were making sure that no religious couplets were sold or displayed in peoples' homes, threatening to fine or even imprison violators," the magazine said.
The tradition is to write wishes, often on red paper, and hang them on the doors or gates of their homes. Spring Festival couplets are the most common and traditional form to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the magazine explained.

How many have been exposed to the virus and survived ? If a thousand have been exposed and 700 have died, then I would be very worried ! Ii doubt that is the case. Last I heard it was a 1 maybe 2 percent mortality virus. |

It's about 2%. I think SARS was about 9%.

I don't know what the percentages are but it's being reported the death toll has passed that for SARS.

Trips - after looking into this a bit more, albeit with a few Google searches, I'm leaning more toward what you and Luca are saying despite us being in the early stages of discovery. This article compares the mortality rates of Sars and the bird flu. Bird flu mortality rate was initially reported as being in the 2% range like this one, but wound up being in the normal range for a flu virus around 0.1 - 0.2% I thought this was a pretty good read. www.livescience.com/amp/is-coronavirus-outbreak-as-bad-as-sars.html |

Might just be another conspiracy theory, but I do find one aspect interesting: Corona Virus could be a bio weapon that only targets a certain raceA couple tidbits from the article: -The virus originated in Wuhan, which just happens to be the location of a Chinese bioweapons lab of the highest security. -The Chinese communist government has refused to allow the American Center for Disease Control (CDC), the foremost authority of disease control in the world, to enter the region of the outbreak for testing as to the origin, and the characteristics of the virus. -There have been no confirmed deaths from coronavirus outside of Asia, except for Chinese, or Asian citizens who traveled abroad from the outbreak region. Makes one ponder... |

The theory being that the Chinese developed a biological weapon targeted against themselves?
Mortality rates can only be calculated in retrospect when you have had enough time to count the number of deaths and get a good idea of how many were infected in the first place. The numbers coming from China don’t seem to be very reliable. It’s easy to count how many people have died but the only people who they know are infected are the ones who actually report to a physician for testing. Since the symptoms for An unknown number are nothing more than a minor respiratory virus and ignored, public health officials have no idea how many overall are infected and thus have no idea what the death rate is.
It is likely impossible to manufacture a biological weapon that targets a particular race since there is so little genetic difference. Although you could possibly target liberals by attaching cyanide to matcha green tea creme Frappuccinos

I really believe everyone should think about that sentence for a minute. First, she said "literally", not "figuratively". And second, she would have us accept that Mike Pence doesn't believe in chemistry, physics, biology, astronomy, medicine, or the hundreds of other legitimate fields of scientific study.
Just how stupid is this woman?

I can understand her arrogance, inexperience, vanity and ideological obsession, but I'm still stunned that anyone can struggle to remember how to make a cocktail one moment, and presume to lecture the world on how to solve all the world's problems two years later. That is presumption and delusion on a truly Olympian scale.
The only thing more mind-boggling is that there are millions of Americans who eat this shit up with both hands.
