They are believing what they are being told. Millions of Americans' lives revolve around what they see on television and read on social media. So when you have an MSM determined to use this outbreak as the latest attempt to blame Trump for ANYTHING, the result is the mass hysteria we are seeing. This is NOT of Donald Trump's making, and it is not his Katrina. I must be particularly dense this morning. Are "they" being told that toilet paper is going to suddenly be banned and we'll have to go find leaves to wipe our asses? Not following the thinking, and haven't heard what is being proffered People are being told to stay in their homes and avoid contact with others. I guess if you are under that kind of house arrest, the most important staple is ass paper.

That video is all the proof we need. People stupid enough to wrap a plastic bag around their kids' heads are stupid enough to believe anything. I'd call them sheep, but sheep have more common sense. I guess I did grow up with "privilege" as some claim..., being from a white upper middle class family......., that privilege was earned I suppose by common sense..., as mayday always told me as a child..., "Never put a plastic bag over your or your sisters head...."!

I don't know if anyone has ever coined the term, but the coverage of the coronavirus is an excellent example of the media's "emotional extortion" of the general public. Ever since Trump was elected, the media has overhyped every story that had even the thinnest connection to Trump. It is as if they want the public to so tire of the dramatic coverage that we vote someone else in to get some calm. Once that happens, the media will go back to hibernation like they were under the Obama presidency.
Emotional Extortion. If you don't do what they want, they will pull whatever emotional ploys they can to torture you until you give up & give in.

I swung by Target about an hour ago, and the entire aisle of paper towels is empty. Media-caused panic at its finest.

Would it be correct to describe the Coronavirus as just a very nasty flu bug? I see people panicking and wanting to shut down public gatherings, but it is only lethal to older people with existing health concerns. Is there any evidence to the contrary that in 3 months, this entire virus will for the most part be forgotten by the public? It is very different from the influenza virus, which typically will cause different symptoms with far less than the reported mortality rate for Covid -19. That stands for "coronavirus disease–2019" but it’s not the official medical term for it, which is "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" (aka SARS-Cov-2). Covid -19 is easier to say so most medical statements are using it. Plus I suppose they don’t want to confuse the medical media, which often doesn’t know its ass from page 8 to begin with. Influenza causes a typical syndrome of rapid onset fever, headache, nasal congestion, postnasal drip, sore throat, cough, fever and fatigue. SARS-Cov-2 appears to cause fever and cough with occasional headache and fatigue.. There do not appear to be typical viral upper respiratory symptoms of nasal congestion, postnasal drip and sore throat as does the influenza virus. There are likely exceptions to that, however. The death rate varies depending on who is reporting it – it’s inordinately high from what they say in Iran but, again, consider the source. The most common estimate appears to be settling around 2% mortality but I would bet that even that is substantially inflated given that we have no idea how many people with minimal symptoms never report to a medical facility to be counted. Plus it appears that a significant percentage of people with it never do get symptoms. So the denominator is probably far more than is being used for the calculation. It seems to be significantly higher in males at least to this point. Especially in males over the age of 50 or 60 and especially if they have pre-existing illness such as immune impairment or pulmonary disease. It is even more unusual to have complications in children and healthy young individuals. There will be reports of more and more people being infected even though it is possible that the illness is not spreading anywhere near that much. The more you look for a condition, the more you are going to find it and it will appear that the incidence is spreading when in fact you are only finding cases that you were not looking for previously, giving the impression of dramatic spread. Finally, I don’t know that there is any consensus on it but my suspicion is that this is going to dissipate before too long and become an after thought. As you probably have read, between 15,000 and 70,000 people die every year in the US from influenza but because we are so accustomed to it most of us don’t even bother with the immunization……………………………….Luca

It's another perfect storm for a desperate media in an election year...., they have another boogie man BUZZ word in CORONAVIRUS and PANDEMIC !! Henny Pennys are thee.......
I agree with this analogy as well, they will let nothing slide even if its deceit, they figure just hammer them (the people) until the cry UNCLE....., it's as if they have based their hope on removing Trump now to the idea that if he loses all calm will set in because we will stop hammering you...

Governor Cuomo orders the New York State National Guard to New Rochelle NY. Mission to surrounded the New Jerusalem Synagogue and other local Jewish Schools and to keep people from leaving their homes.
I wonder what MSM would say of Trump did this?

They'd call him a Nazi, this being evidence of his plan to establish an authoritarian, right wing oligarchy in concert with Vladimir Putin.

Based on the symptoms you described, Doc, I think I'd prefer Covid 19 to the flu.

I have a rule of thumb that has served me well for over 40 years: I never get nervous about something until the professionals get nervous.
I've had the same financial planner for about 30 years, and she's one of the best in the country. When the DOW drops 2,000 points in a day, I don't get nervous unless she does...and she didn't.
I've flown probably two hundred times, sometimes in pretty awful turbulence, and I don't get nervous unless the captain and flight crew do. So far, I've never seen it.
My youngest son is a nurse in the emergency room of a large hospital, so he is about as much on the front lines of this COVID-19 panic as one can get. He also has a new one-month-old daughter at home. He's not nervous, and neither are any of the roughly 100 people in his department. His wife has been a surgical nurse for 12 years, and she's not nervous either. My doctor and our team doctor have both said it's no big deal, and Luca has said much the same thing.
That's why my blood pressure is normal, I do everything exactly as I did before this fiasco, and I sleep like a baby. The MSM can shove it.

IMHO, this is one of the best articulations of the media's modus operandi, under President Trump, that I've ever read. I'm pissed that I didn't say it myself first. Well done. p.s. As far as the Corona Virus is concerned, the Left and the media are so excited about the potential of this turning into "Trump's Hurricane Katrina" that they are like an animal in heat with their attempts to proclaim that the sky is falling--and that it's all Donald Trump's fault.
