I read on NBC News that is referenced in that tweet. Navratilova’s comment was and is, transgender women have an unfair competitive advantage over biological women <period> Apparently, no one can argue with that. But doesn't that make you a sexist, misogynist for saying that? And a racist as well... so, yes.

I was not looking for this, but came across This article in Public Discourse, In Their Own Words: Parents of Kids Who Think They Are Trans Speak OutIt is an emotional look at the perspective of parents of teen transgenders:

Ultimately, what's at stake in this and many other issues is the simple yet vital concept of TRUTH. Whether it's male or female, or the right to life, truth is essential for any right ordering of both the individual (and his soul) and society.
If there is genuine confusion in a person over their gender, then that needs to be addressed with compassion--which involves the truth communicated with love (tough love, if you will). When ideologues try to force a society to affirm a lie, then our whole experiment in freedom and self-government is at stake.
We've gone from "live and let live" to "agree with us or you're a bigot and an enemy of society!" That's a fight we must engage for our sake and for the sake of our kids and grandkids.

Now this has the makings of some real deep thought, Credo. The concept of Truth, along with what Covey refers to as True North Principles seem to be fading badly in...the world?

As I have said before, that is the only reason I even joined the political side of TOB. The logical extension of that is that, of course, is that I have disengaged from that fight, by leaving that board.
I'm certainly not saying we should all go back, however...We made our impact over there. We made it clear that their views are far from being universally accepted.

Like your SIL, involvement by others not of the same mindset over there is pretty pointless. A Mendoza line of getting the slightest acceptance of a differing point would be HOF material.

Hope they enjoy it.

I laugh at how that has gone down over the years. When the Register closed its Forum and the horde of posters joined JQP's site, he was given a gift. There were enough of us there, actively posting multiple times per day, that all JQP had to do was just manage the site with the slightest bit of intelligence and he would have been making money hand over fist from advertising. Instead, he let his partisan bias cloud his judgement and he ran that forum into the ground. There went his dream of being able to afford to live in Orange County Best thing is once we were all banished or left, they will eat their own...

Frankly, I was surprised the rest of you guys didn’t leave en masses when I was banned, knowing as I did how you fawned over my every brilliant argument... O.K., all seriousness aside, one thing he did do was pretty much leave the HS Sports threads to themselves, but that was probably because he didn’t know anything about HS Sports and neither did his toady, VilePagan. Welcome to the pool, RSM... so far, the water is fine.

On the contrary, I think this is a battle we should get into. If men are allowed to play women's soccer, basketball, golf and tennis because they feel like women, and they dominate those sports, then this whole leftist silliness will be brought to a head. Women's golf, WNBA and college softball is full of lesbians. Let the lesbians push this in the courts. I say keep our power dry for our fight to come. This makes more sense to me. We push the fight, we are too easily dismissed as mysoginist and transphobic (as we have already been). One of theirs, such as Martina Navratilova chimes in, and of course they try to brand her transphobic, but it sounds silly.

God, I hate this avalanche of neologisms. I've always hated how the noun "disrespect" became a verb so that now victims are "disrespected" or - God help us - "dissed."
WTF?
Then came "homophobic", a Latin bastardization. "Phobic" is a Latin root meaning hatred/loathing/dislike. The prefix "homo" means "man", as in mankind, a generic descriptor.
I don't know who the hell it was that decided homophobic meant loathing of homosexuals. What it should mean is loathing of mankind. I suppose in slang terms it could be taken to mean that one hates "homos" (an obsolete slang for homosexuals), but I doubt that's how it was intended to be interpreted, otherwise they could just as easily have coined the term "fagphobic".
And now apparently we have "transphobic" (thank you, Dave, hadn't heard that one before), "trans" meaning "across" or "beyond." It doesn't mean "transexual".
So, screw these pseudo-intellectuals who are trying to come across as woke Renaissance Latin scholars (I had to take 2 years of Latin in high school. They told us "you have to know Latin if you want to get into medical school". Yeah?.....well, my ass, Father O'Rourke. You need to know 2 or 3 prefixes and you can fake the rest, but what the hell did I know? But I digress.......)
I'm going to make my own neologisms from now on. We're not "trans-phobics", Dave. We're "Cisophiles". Look at it from the positive perspective..........................Luca

I would read the political post yet only participate in the sports posts. There wasn't a day when I thought this JQP guy better understand how to moderate. I even inboxed him a couple times about it and what his responsibility SHOULD be. He didn't take well to my advice. It's like anything, put something before an audience and you likely have 90% of them in your hand. Speak you politics to them and you will be lucky to have 50% of them. Why do people not learn this? Hollywood? #ToneDeaf

We're "Cisophiles". Look at it from the positive perspective..........................Luca I have been watching as minority groups co-opt general use words from our language to support their lifestyle and, more recently, to project their victim status and shut down ideas they don’t want to hear. “Gay” was the first theft and, today, normal people are not allowed to use it normally... unless it’s use is accompanied by a disclaimer. ”homophobic” and the newer “transphobic” don’t really mean we fear or loathe those groups, given the context in which they are invariably used. These aberrations are used with the intent of creating a fear of being called “intolerant.” I most frequently hear it from homo- or trans - sexual persons, or those who support them, when they do not have an intelligent response to something posed to them. The intent is to stop that line of discussion and redirect the challenger off into a protest that they are not homo (trans) phobic. when I am accused of it, my perennially un-answered question is always, “how am I homo (trans) phobic?” bottom line, those using such terms have no interest in grammar or linguistics. They accuse as a defense mechanism.
