I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's more to this hysteria than meets the eye.
While I recently ascribed high credibility to the health officials on the President's Coronavirus Taskforce, recent information has come to light which may cause some to ask some questions about the motivations of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who today stands at the forefront of the Scientific Authority that is influencing our political leaders to shut down the engines on the strongest economy the world. Sundance over at Conservative Treehouse has uncovered a couple of highly obsequious and fawning emails that Fauci wrote about his "love" and "respect" for one Hillary Clinton back in 2012. Also relevant for consideration is the contrast between his clam and measured tone during the 2009-2010 H1N1 outbreak and his alarmist tone today.

Realistically, what's happening is likely nothing more than a combination of fear, poor leadership, herd mentality, and general failure of imagination and faith in the ability of the American people to marshal the courage, common sense, and ingenuity to overcome whatever this Chinese bat virus may threaten. I find it interesting the lengths to which some will go to put sinister meaning to our experiences. I even admit falling victim to it from time to time (remember Hal Lindsey and The Late Great Planet Earth? That was actually factual in terms of the Scripture he cited, but it was not exactly spot on with the conclusions he drew from them.
