Wouldn't be surprised if he shut it down until next year, and just apologized to everyone whose life was ruined. But he saved us. We had to destroy the village in order to save it.

"Village" is appropriate for the inhabitants we are for allowing things to get this far.

"There are no Friday night high school football games in Southern California because of COVID-19 , but that isn’t stopping Times prep sports columnist Eric Sondheimer from joining broadcaster Randy Rosenbloom to discuss and debate high school football for your Friday night entertainment.
Corona Del Mar coach Dan O’Shea is this week’s guest, and he shares his ideas for finding a path forward amid the pandemic".

With CIFSS giving the "OK" for club football this year, I think it's a real possibility.

Well, the CIF hasn't really given the OK to club ball, because they have no jurisdiction over it. They're just kind of turning a blind eye to it. Rob Wygod has hinted that the season may be pushed into a February or March start, with just league games, no playoffs, and maybe a few bowl games at the end of the season. On the other hand, the season timeline keeps getting pushed more and more into the future. If it eventually gets cancelled, watch for the Trinity League schools to go club. All they would need to do is put duct tape over the school names on their uniforms and helmets.

Dad, they won’t even need duct tape! I was listening to Aram T’s podcast with Robert Maxie who is at the front of the club football scene. He said that players on a given team would all have the same uniform jerseys but they each would provide their own helmet. So it would be just like an all star game where you see all the helmets from different schools. This should be entertaining.

Unfortunately, most of the helmets owned by these families are youth football helmets, not high school helmets. They don't meet the safety requirements of high school helmets, and I know at least one school that won't allow them to play in them.

MDDad, don't the Monarchs already have three strips of duck tape on their helmets?

No, those are actually three strips of skin they've peeled off Servite players.

No, those are actually three strips of skin they've peeled off Servite players. I thought those were for the three times they were defeated by St. John Bosco for the CIF championship in recent years? Or do they represent the three touchdown lead they blew in last year's title game--I forget?

Losing three out of five to Bosco hurts, but trust me, it's still infinitely better than watching the game from home for the last nine years.

No, those are actually three strips of skin they've peeled off Servite players. I still say they wear their jock straps on their helmets.
