If I were the president of the United States, and I was ignorant about things like the possibility of injecting sunlight or disinfectants, I would raise the question in private. The last thing I would do is go on national television and PROVE my ignorance. Doing that isn't ignorant, it's stupid.

You know I'm not a Trump apologist, and from my seat, there was nothing out of line with what he said given the entire conversation. That 30 second clip and other excerpts are making it sound much different than it would be if you read or listened to the entire briefing. I feel the same way about his remarks post-Charlottesville that were mis-construed to make it look like he was a racist, white supremacist sympathizer.

Frankly, I feel strongly both ways.
Generally speaking, I think Trump should stop speaking publicly (including all use of social media) until he has something affirming and leaderly to say. But that is not likely to happen: Mores the pity.
But I also think it is perfectly acceptable to publicly acknowledge my shortcomings as he did with that “inject” question. I would cast aspersions at him had he NOT confessed “I don’t know, I’m not a health professional” but he did. He effectively asked a question AND told us why he was as,omg: because he’s not a health professional.
The lame-ocrats are going to misquote him, anyway, so there’s nothing for him to be concerned about.

Of course it also begs the questions of why he's so ignorant and how someone so ignorant made it to the WH.

Ok, but given MDDad's statement do you think perhaps it would have been better if the conversation were private?

Well put. Of course it also begs the questions of why he's so ignorant and how someone so ignorant made it to the WH. Ignorant about medicine in this case. Having specific knowledge of medicine and being able to lead the country are two different skill sets, Trump has the 2nd one, the doctors who advise him have the 1st one. Real ignorance is looking back at the past 3 years, seeing specific ways he has led the country and achieved things and then question how he made it to the White House. That blindness borders on stupidity. It is intriguing how so many on the left pine for a God-like president, even though a good portion of them are atheist. They demand that the opposing party's candidate be an expert on everything and are fooled by slick candidates on their side who are all hat & no cattle. Most likely they are trying to fill a void in their life.

Agree w/ Credo on this one. He wasn't coming off as an expert here - he said as much multiple times. Yeah, and Dr. Birx said in an interview, that he has a habit of musing out loud in meetings to get people thinking. This is what he was doing with the Ultra-violet light and the disinfectants...musing about a "what if" we could somehow use this info to attack it inside the body in some way.

There are actually several patents on file for Trachea tubes with germicidal light source(s) on file. patents.google.com/patent/US7159590B2/en

You’re not going to remind him of who Trump was running against, are you? that is tantamount to rubbing salt in the wound.

You think it takes a doctor to know you don't want to inject yourself with disinfectant? You sure do give your guy a pass for being dumber than a fifth-grader.

A stupid three year-old video of some idiot blaming the left for trump's election. The dreaded "left" didn't vote for trump. That was morons from the other side of the aisle. The same side of the aisle that thought Sarah Palin would make a good VP. So perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that they'd go and elect someone even more unsuited for government than Palin, but it's still a shame that he country has to live through this embarrassment of a president.
