Way too young. By all accounts, a really good guy.

Jim was a year ahead of me at Anaheim HS, so while I wouldn't say we were friends, I knew him pretty well. He was a good dude.

He was my summer league basketball coach my senior year, and also coached the "B" team that same year. His Dad, Bud, and Jim were very supportive of me while playing for the Varsity that year. His Dad asked me to shoot more. haha. Jim was a fine mentor for me that year, and a very nice man. This is a real shocker, as I had seen him and spoken with him at a car show at the High School in 2014. BTW, he didn't remember me. How many other young men had he mentored like he did a couple of us on that team? I suspect too many to remember us all. RIP Coach.

A great man, a compelling actor. Sorry to hear this, but he was a Christian, so he is now enjoying his reward. From The Washington TimesDeliverance, Superman, Network (Oscar Nomination), Toy Story 3 (Lotso), M*A*S*H... and on and on. He was one of the top character actors in film, particularly during the 1970s, and appeared in more than 160 films. He was nominated for an Academy Award, two Emmy Awards, an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, and a Golden Globe Award; he also won a Drama Desk Award. (Wikipedia) Rest In Peace, Mr. Beatty...

I was reading about him. I feel sorry forms family and friends... difficult for me to feel sorry for him (maybe for his wasted talent)

I don't know whether Colt was Catholic or not. He did go to Mater Dei, but long after Mater Dei changed from being a high school for Catholics, to being a private school run by Catholics.
Anyway, my understanding is that although the Catholic Church now accepts cremation, they require the ashes to remain all together. Maybe they've changed that, or maybe Colt wasn't Catholic.
In any case...may he rest in peace.

Yet 20 years later, the Taliban is on the verge of regaining complete control in Afghanistan, and Iraq has been Balkanized into total instability.

Terry Donahue at age 77. Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks and UCLA. Said by everyone to be one of the nicest guys they knew. Must have been one of the smartest, too: he turned down the head-coaching job for the Dallas Cowboys…………Luca

I grew up watching his teams at the Rose Bowl. Those were arguably the glory years for UCLA football, winning seven bowl games in seven consecutive seasons. Now the only way UCLA will get to the Rose Bowl game is if they work the concession stands.
