Couldn't find an RIP thread so I started this one. Love this song, and both of these singers. Rest in Peace with the Lord, John, and thank you for sharing your talent with us.
John Prine, Who Chronicled the Human Condition in Song, Dies at 73
The folk singer and songwriter with a raspy voice and an offbeat humor was revered by peers including Bob Dylan. -William Grimes, NYTimes

On TOB, Wabash offered a "good riddance" on the death of Linda Tripp. What kind of a piece of shit human being is happy at the death of another person just because they disagreed politically.

I can understand a staunch liberal offering "good riddance" when Reagan died, for Reagan did alot of things while in office that showed how conservative ideology was superior to liberal ideology. In that case, the staunch liberal would indeed hate Reagan because he was a threat to all things the staunch liberal believes in. But Linda Tripp? You have to be a real scumbag to hate Linda Tripp to that degree. She got caught up knowing the things that Bill Clinton did, concerned about retaliation from the Clinton's and about being prosecuted for lying under oath when telling the truth. The tapes she made and her push to have Lewinsky tell the truth were nothing more than self preservation, an insurance policy to make sure she didn't get indicted for doing the right thing and that the Clinton's didn't add her to that ever growing list. Hating Linda Tripp would be like a conservative hating someone who testified about the Watergate break-in.

I must’ve seen John Prine in concert At least three times. I used to listen to him a lot in college as my roommate was a bigger fan than I was. I saw Kris Kristofferson join him at the Coach House once. He was an excellent lyricist with a good sense of humor. I Think it was Bonnie Raitt who said that because of his down-home manner, sense of humor and ability to write he was the closest thing to a modern day Mark Twain Any of us will ever know. Bob Dylan called him a “Proustian existentialist.“ I have no idea what that means but it sounds like a complement.
I think most of us know what a pathetic cretin Wabash is already. Short, fat, loud, opinionated without insight, an ideologue without ideas. The intellectual equivalent of a vacuum. And as a result often entertaining to read. ..............Luca

I can't. While I can understand being passionate about one's political and social beliefs, I can't comprehend being such an staunch ideologue that it takes away my basic humanity and decency. Wabash is the pathetic example of that happening.

I think you are selling yourself short, I believe you can comprehend such a thing, even though you find it disgusting. Remember the leftist point of view, what they believe in and how they see the world. Now someone like Reagan comes along and blows those ideas away, shaking these people to the core. They have two choice - to either rationally & logically look at how they have been wrong or choose to hate the person who destroyed their world view. If they are immature and ignorant, they choose the latter.

For Lefties, whistleblowers who expose Republican are heroic, while those (like Linda Tripp) who expose Democrats deserve a "good riddance." And before our Troll chimes in to call out my "dishonesty" and hypocrisy because of my dismissive attitude toward the Ukraine whistleblower, recall that Linda Tripp was a material witness to an actual crime (suborning perjury---which got Bill Clinton disbarred), whereas Eric Ciaramella was a third-hand witness to no actual crime, since no crime was asserted in the recent phony impeachment.

I understand what you're saying, but Linda Tripp didn't blow anyone's ideas away, nor did she shake them to the core or destroy their world view. Celebrating her death is the ultimate in petty political shittiness.

I was a huge fan back when I would collect Coke bottles to return for the deposit so I could get the next Mad Magazine. Mort Drucker, iconic caricaturist for Mad Magazine has shuffled off this mortal coil.
