With due respect, we can do better for a legend:
John Earl Madden April 10, 1936 – December 28, 2021

Harry Reid. I don't say bad things about the dead. Had his political career ended by a treadmill named Guido.

Lied about Mitt Romney paying no taxes, admitted it, and was proud of it as it helped BO. I don't have anything nice to say about this man.

I remember him as an announcer. I remember him as all three (coach, announcer, and Gamer)... When he coached the Faders, it was the only time I rooted for them... never since Al Davis took over.

I think he and Howard Cosell called the games together, didn't they? Maybe with Frank Gifford? It has been a long time.

Pat Summerall and Al Michaels were who I remember being his broadcast partners.

John Madden was an interesting guy. Very honest and straightforward, and funny. He was one of the early announcers who actually understood line play and would often comment on it. He could see the field better than Brady. There'd be a 40 yard pass play and he'd point out the guard picking up a blitz and how it made the play work, etc. In 1958 he was drafted on the 21st round by the Eagles. He probably preferred not to mention that. (I looked it up and noted that Green Bay drafted THREE hall of famers that year - Kramer, Nitschke - the linebacker, not the philosopher Nietzsche - and Jim Taylor)
I understand he had a fear of flying (maybe why he retired young) and had a customized mega bus that would take him to the far off games when he was an announcer.

Luca, he feared flying because his Cal Poly Team just two years after he graduated went down in a plane crash....

Too bad she couldn't hang on for another 2 1/2 weeks to reach a hundred.
