I hope that's not the case. Actually... I BELIEVE that's not the case. Who recognizes you, or cares about you when you die shouldn't matter one bit. Think of all the homeless that die alone and forgotten.

It seems like you're saying that the 12-year-old was an adult "in his body" but retained a childhood mind, thus mitigating his behavior/responsibility. ..................................Luca It wasn't a point so much as an observation about our society & culture. When this happened, I recall people saying "That boy can't be a father, he is too young". By our societal measurements, yes he was too young but nature disagreed by proving that he was indeed old enough to be a father. I'm not trying to reduce anyone's responsibility in this manner, just noting how our culture has delayed the time when a person is considered an adult compared to the time they are physically able to be an adult (i.e., procreate). |

It's called "grace", vile. I know what it's called Bick, and had she shown the slightest remorse for her crimes she might deserve some. IMO she does not. In your opinion Vile, which was worse, MKL's statory rape & relationship with Vili Fualaau or Bill Clintons affair with Monica Lewinsky? When I say worse, I mean as far as psychological & emotional damage done to the younger person in each situation. |

Mary Kay Letourneau was a pedophile... There is an old saying that if a man builds a thousand bridges and sucks one cock, they don't call him a bridge builder. Your description of Letourneau reminds me of that. When one thinks of a pedophile, it brings to mind images of an adult who uses children for his/her perversion and then casts them aside (sometimes literally). The child is viewed as an object by the pedophile, not as another human being, and the pedophile will molest different children one after another with no thought to his/her actions. Letourneau didn't do that. She had a completely inappropriate and illegal sexual relationship with one child, whom she stayed with as he became an adult. She was not infatuated with children as most pedophiles are, she was infatuated with this person at a time he was a child. She made horrible decisions and most likely caused damage to the psyche of this boy, but I don't believe pedophile is the correct description for her, especially when you consider what she did and compare it to the actions of traditional pedophiles. |

If Letourneau was not a classic serial pedophile, then we need a new word to describe adults who fall in love with a child to the point of sexual exploitation. Until then, the words "severe mental illness" and "child rapist" will have to suffice.

I'm not in favor of child marriages, but it was commonplace in the past. Same with age of consent laws. If you go back to 1880 for example, the age of consent laws in the USA ranged from 7 years old in Delaware (maybe that explains Biden's creepy obsession with touching children) to 12 years old in several states. chnm.gmu.edu/cyh/primary-sources/24Again I'm not recommending that we go back to that, but maybe a one-size-fits-all approach is too broad a brush to use. Vili was not your typical 13 year old. |

A person who abused their parents but not any other old people would be guilty of elder abuse, but not serial elder abuse.. The serial portion of the label describes a choice to continue to do it to multiple people, no? I can't think of a serial killer who had just one victim, albeit you can't murder someone multiple times. |
