Kind of a sidebar, regarding race and crime. I went down a rabbit hole on Youtube the other day, watching people taking action against porch pirates. One thing I noticed is how a high percentage of people who steal UPS & fedex deliveries off of porches are white women. Not that I was expecting to see any trend, a thief is a thief, but easily half of the videos had white woman as the criminals. If that is true, if it is as statistically correct as most serial killers being white males, I wonder what the reason for it could be. I know women tend to shoplift more then men, it is a less confrontational crime as is swiping something off of a front stoop. It also seems like drugs are involved, those areas with meth problems have a higher preponderance of packages being stolen. That makes sense because the thief isn't interested on what is in the package, but rather the money she can get for it in order to buy drugs. As for the racism part of it, maybe white woman are able to walk down the street without getting noticed compared to men or minorities. The lack of concern of their presence makes it easier for them to hit & run. Those men who stole did tend to drive up in vehicles, while most of the women were just walking. You might have hit in something in your reasoning... a white woman out for a walk, during the day, in a middle class neighborhood doesn’t even get noticed. But a black woman or any race male would likely draw attention. |

Like anything, I suspect a white woman seen walking in a predominantly white neighborhood wouldn't draw any particular attention, any more than a black woman in a black neighborhood. Conversely, a black woman in a white neighborhood will stick out - just like a white woman in black neighborhood would stick out...but only one of these is called racism. |

I have been seeing photos of a BLM march in Tallahassee, FL over the weekend: in three of those photos, I counted 2 blacks in groups of 100-200 marching. I honestly expected more black participation at a BLM protest, unless... i wonder if their absence signals a movement of blacks away from BLM.  |

Anyone besides me see this as a hate crime worthy of front page coverage? What makes you call this a "hate crime", and are you complaining that this should be a front page story or that it is a front page story? |

If it were a group of white thugs doing that to a black couple, it's trending on Twitter as a hate crime, it's THE top story of every national news outlet, and the cities would be burning again.
