We will have preconceptions, sometimes negative. The trick is to be aware of your a priori conceptions and make sure that they don't creep into your behavior. It's the behavior that would make you a racist.I've always felt much the same way, but experience has taught me that's no longer a popular opinion to hold. If an old cajun lives alone in a small cabin in the swamps, and he has a dislike or hatred for blacks, but he never has the opportunity or inclination to act on that feeling, is he a racist? He certainly has never carried out any racist behavior. Is it not akin to if he feels a sexual attraction for children, but never sees or touches a child, can he realistically be called a pedophile?

A racist believes his race is somehow superior to another race.
These morons who run around calling people racists don't have the first idea of what someone believes, yet somehow are given a pass for making such a claim.
The issue is discrimination. That's the action. It's pretty easy to see, and would be a specific, actionable target to defeat.

I think in examples like this latest one, it is too easy to get emotionally wrapped up in one case (that's what the left does best) and stop seeing the big picture. We are a nation of 330 million people, and there will always be a small percentage of us who hates African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, Muslims, etc., for no other reason than that they are of different races, ethnicities or religious beliefs. And some small percentage of that small percentage will find ways to rise to positions of power where they can indulge that hatred with some measure of impunity, be it as a police officer, drill sergeant or prison guard. Despite what the left may wish for, we will never eliminate them all. Yes, we can better screen and remove those kinds of cadets, rookies, military and prison personnel, but they will always be there in some numbers. The best we can do in those cases is to keep our heads and prosecute the offenders to the fullest extent of the law. I do not believe the left DOES wish for the elimination of all racist LEO. As we are seeing with the current riots and destruction, these events are now well organized and funded. Pallets of bricks have been delivered to riot sites, those arrested at the riots aren’t even from the area they are destroying (many are affiliated with Antifa), there are websites seeking to conscript “protesters for pay”... while I do not believe anyone arranged to have Floyd killed, there was a plan in place just waiting for the “next one” which they knew would happen. coming as it does on the heels of the pandemic, I believe all the civil unrest is just the next step in the plan to destabilize the United States.

When you also consider that because of black crime rates, they comprise the majority of what would be considered "negative interactions" with police, these number are even more remarkable. The real statistical studies indicate that, all things being equal, the police are more likely to shoot a white criminal than a black criminal.

If there is "systemic racism" in America, we might need to flip the narrative based on the real data.

What happened to George Floyd was horrific, likely criminal, and should be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law. Every sentient American agrees with this.
And....."systemic police racism" is a myth, just like "Hands up. Don't shoot!"

Interestingly, I was arguing with a woman on Facebook just yesterday and used that same WaPo database... and those same statistics. in 2019, there were 1004 deaths that involved police officers. Of those, 230 were Blacks. Of those, only 9 were categorized as “weapon u determined” (8) or “unarmed” (1). She has not responded.

A racist believes his race is somehow superior to another race... A racist may believe that, but that alone doesn't make him racist. It may be a component of racism, but it is the negative actions that are carried out against another based solely on race that earns him the title of racist. Examples of people who believe their race is superior to another race are numerous and many of those folks may not qualify as racist. Any member of the Sons of Italy will drone on & on about how Italians are the greatest race, many Jewish folks look down upon gentiles as being lesser than them, older Greeks still consider their races' contributions to civilization make them superior. Many times, pride in ones heritage can bleed over to a feeling of superiority, but I wouldn't label those people racist.

FACT: If you are non-white, a woman, or LGBTQ, there has never been a better time to live in America; there has never been greater opportunity and less barriers to your success.

The woman in that video clip is spot on. “Black children are killed in Chicago every day. Why aren’t you in Chicago. You are hypocrites.”

So imagine you live in a place where there are beehives nearby. Most of the bees that fly into your yard are peaceful, they are just there to pollinate the flowers. Every now & then, a jerk bee gets aggressive and tries to sting whoever it encounters. Your black friend comes over and starts to go into your back yard:
YOU - "Don't go in the backyard, I saw a real aggressive bee there this morning" FRIEND - "But I want to go in the backyard" YOU - "I wouldn't recommend it" FRIEND - "I have a right to go in your backyard" YOU - "I agree, but it isn't a good idea"
FRIEND goes into the backyard, the aggressive bee comes over, FRIEND shoos it away, the bee dive bombs and stings your friend.
FRIEND - "AAHH, I've been stung & I didn't do anything wrong. Why do bees hate black people?" YOU - "They don't, most of those bees aren't bothering you. I told you to stay away from that jerk bee" FRIEND - "Bees hate black people. They target us. He didn't sting you because you are white" YOU - "No, he didn't sting me because I didn't go in the backyard. If you had given me some time, I could have gotten rid of him." FRIEND - "We need to eliminate all bees".
The whole concept that police target minorities is just as silly.

This gem from San Bernardino county health department. Well, I guess you learn something new every day. Nice to see the brain trust behind how we should handle a virus.

Despite the massive upheavals and violence committed in the past week, there has not been one piece of evidence brought forth to suggest that George Floyd's death was racially motivated. If this is simply assumed, then we would have to similarly assume that every act of violence between people of different races is motivated by racism, which is preposterous. This would also be rather inconvenient to the "systemic racism" narrative, since the overwhelming number of black/white murders involve black perpetrators and white victims. It's not even close.

And then your FRIEND burns down your house.....while being cheered on by Democrats and the media. Now the story is more believable.
