If there is no God, there are no absolute standards. Based on what? Please substanciate your claim. True statement ( vast majority might be a stretch, but I will give it to you). So you and I agree that there are no standars of behavior, unlike Tuba? So your claim is that "since the majority of people ahve lived and died without the knowledge of J-C teaching, therefore there are no absolutes? I never used the term "man's sense of morality".

I need some help from those of you who know Catholicism better than I do. is the Pope really saying, And did he really mean it when he said, (Actually, I believe this last one, but also believe the Holy Spirit will work in that persons life to vanquish sin, including homosexuality) as I read his comment above (from An article in the UK’s Independent, it sounds to me like he is saying “you don’t have to believe in God to go to Heaven, so long as you are sincere...” but that can’t possibly be what h3s saying, can it?

Davidsf – I figured someone would have replied, but, as a former Catholic, I guess I am the next best thing. That being said, I am certainly not an expert on Catholicism, but here are my two cents. (and yes, I wrote this in Word and pasted it here. Sorry.
“...God’s mercy has no limits if you go to him with a sincere and contrite heart. The issue for those who do not believe in God is to obey their conscience."
Well, this is a true statement, sort of. From my reading of scripture, there are two camps of people who do not believe: 1. Those who have heard and reject the Gospel (lost) 2. Those who have never heard the Gospel, including us a children (Romans 7:9-10)
If he is referring to the later, that is acceptable. If the former, not so good. I don’t know the answer. “Sin, even for those who have no faith, exists when people disobey their conscience.”
This is a true statement, if, again, referring to group two from above. (Romans 2: 14-15). I believe there is no hope for anyone who rejects the Gospel (John 3:36, John 5:24, and many others)
“If someone is gay and is looking for the Lord, who am I to judge him?”
I do not believe the Bible teaches that the desire towards same sex is a sin. I believe the acting out of same sex attraction is a sin. There are actually quite a few Gay Christians (these are celibate Christians who are sold out for Christ) who use the hashtag #LGBTQinChrist, hated by the LGBTQ community. But because they are celibate and follow Christ. If the Pontiff is referring to that group, I agree with him. If he is referring to the unrepentant group, engaging in unrepentant behavior, then he would be sadly mistaken, and this is according to Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant doctrine.
Thats all I got.

Chesterton had a unique and--dare I say--brilliant way of putting things that always makes you think.

Some of you are familiar with Oswald Chambers. My mom introduced me to his Devotional, My Utmost for His Highest , when I was still a teenager. I now have his daily offering delivered to my inbox. Today’s is particularly poignant:

Protesting, rioting and looting have also "proven to be one way to spread a virus." Why aren't those activities banned as well?

This seems like we're living in some dystopian game of Simon Sez.
Stuff like this gets leaders assassinated.

Good question...say, I know how we can stop murders...we should ban them. rofl. Seriously MDDad? You don't see a difference between people going to church and people being so incensed with their government that they are moved to protest in the street?
