The 17-year-old kid (who shouldn't have travelled there in the first place) was clearly acting in self-defense. With any half-way decent defense attorney, there's no way he gets convicted.

Few observations: 1. The kid should not have been there. Self-defense of ones own property is fine, but the defense of another’s generally is not (it depends, of course); 2. Deadly force is justified only when you fear for your life or deadly force is used against you (ie, the incident with Mr. Blake); 3. He will not be charged with first degree murder based on the two videos currently out.

I'm not on board with "Justice for Kyle" either. A minor drives to a riot with a gun? What could possibly go wrong? He does have the right to defend himself, but it seems clear he went looking for trouble...and found it.

This portrays a little different story.

I have a nephew who uses a phrase that I have grown fond of and is applicable to most everyone participating in these riots -
"Play stupid games, win stupid prizes"

This portrays a little different story. Fox news is reporting that a number of "high-powered" lawyers have joined forces, offering to defend the 17-year old shooter. One of them said on twitter, "Video evidence clearly shows justified acts of self-defense." Very interesting video from James Woods appears to show that the last guy who got shot in his arm, was about to shoot the kid with his hand gun. For a 17-year old to wield a rifle so adeptly in such close quarters, killing one (who whacked him with a skateboard), and shooting the hand gun wielder in his gun wielding arm, is either impressive, or his guardian angel was watching over him.

I had been under the impression that the first of the three people shot, was shot in the act of looting. But this video shows even this first deceased man was chasing the 17-year old kid. So all three shootings are self defense beyond a shadow of a doubt IMHO.

This kid has a number of legal problems. He's not old enough to own the gun he was carrying. He's not old enough to carry the gun he was carrying. He's not from Wisconsin he's from Illinois so even if he was old enough he wasn't Wisconsinny enough to legally be carrying the rifle.
If he was illegally carrying the rifle, illegally possessing the rifle, illegally in WI with the rifle, he's going to have a difficult time claiming self-defense regardless of what you think you see in the videos.
If the people were chasing him because he shot someone, his claim of self-defense is equally difficult. The bottom line is that he had no business being there with a rifle at all.

He's already been charged with two counts of first-degree murder so....I guess two out of three isn't bad. I think the felony-murder rule will be negate any claims of self-defense and will be his undoing.
