Stupid and not smart are synonymous.

Sorry, SK, but you can't convince me that a minor deciding to take a semi-automatic weapon to an active riot scene was the right or the smart thing to do. I have no intention to try to convince you. The minute you pick up a firearm there is inherent risk in many ways. As I stated, it came with risk or as I put it "risky". Had Kyle picked up a knife to go out and defend his community he could likely now be dead.... right? "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight"? @dave, good perspective, my wife's family has a farm in western Kansas, small town. You often see pulling onto Main Street trucks with firearms, yes guns in a gun rack. Why that makes me feel safe and someone else feel fear is innate I suppose. Maybe a few Ford F-150's with some rifle racks parked around Chicago and LA might have criminals think twice before the knock off the jewelry or liquor store.

If a kid strips naked and rides a bike off the roof of a two-story building, is he doing something stupid or just not smart? Seems like semantics to me.

I see no correlation between your example here and protecting ones community, one in which the line of protection, the police, were directed to stand down. Leaders in Kenosha were even offered the National Guard to protect the citizenry. It was refused as if these people in charge saw benefit in the publics danger. Sometimes a man, has to do what a man has to do. If one is compelled to give aid to the injured, protect the innocent, and in that environment is guns and fire, one better have a gun. But lets get back to your point, kid strips naked and rides a bike...

Put it this way, how many of us dads would be OK with their 17 year old taking a gun to a riot? One thing to be at your home or business and defend it, but completely another to go out like that with a weapon. When I lived in So Cal, I would never have understood a parent who would allow such a thing. When I got here, I noticed country kids are different from most city kids. Country kids hunt, drive tractors, many are home schooled, get up at 5:00 or 6:00 most mornings and have responsibilities around the house. A lot of them do some volunteering in the community. They're not hicks, by any means, just different from the teens around me here in metropolis. So, I agree with your perspective on a parent allowing a 17 year old city kid. But while I don't condone it, I can understand it from a country kid's parent. Good point. Our perspectives are very different here in the suburbs. I hadn't considered that aspect at all...when in Rome...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacklyn_H._LucasJacklyn H. Lucas.
Jacklyn Harold "Jack" Lucas (February 14, 1928 – June 5, 2008) was an American Marine in World War II who was awarded the Medal of Honor at the age of 17 years as a private first class in the Marine Corps during the Battle of Iwo Jima.
During a close firefight in two trenches between Lucas and three Marines with 11 Japanese soldiers, Lucas saved the lives of the other three Marines from two enemy hand grenades that were thrown into their trench by unhesitatingly placing himself on one grenade, while in the next instant pulling the other grenade under him. The grenade he covered with his body exploded, and wounded him severely; the other grenade did not explode. He is the youngest Marine and the youngest serviceman in World War II to be awarded the United States' highest military decoration for valor. He later reenlisted in the United States Army and reached the rank of captain.
+++++++snip+++++++++ For over 200 years this country has sent men younger than 17 into war zones. As the (men) of Kenosha hid a child went to fight for them.

Then I think we've solved one of our major contemporary problems. The next time Antifa or BLM riot, loot and set fire to our cities, let's arm our high school kids with AR's and applaud while they charge into the "war zone" to "protect stuff". I can't see anything going wrong.
And maybe I missed this during the trial and all the hype, but who owned that damned AR?

The AR is owned by his relative who lives in or near Kenosha.

They have muzzle the sheepdogs. The wolf is not afraid anymore. They tried to make an example of this kid who tried to fight back. They will continue to go after this kid.

OH yeah... I've already hear some relatives of the kid he shot are talking "Civil suit." So, Kyle will be wise to forego suing media outlets for now.

Dave, are you thinking that the relatives won't sue Kyle if he doesn't sue big tech? I am not sure about that. He might need that money to fight the civil suits.
Or perhaps he will have a treasure chest they can go after?

Or perhaps he will have a treasure chest they can go after? I wonder about whether or not they will be successful in their civil suits. If they are, he's not going to want to take possession of all that cash payout from the media companies.
