It was sad to watch. Biden has 45+ years in Washington and hundreds of bad votes to defend so let him try to do it. Biden did a much better job of talking to the American people. IMO VP Biden won the debate. Biden is an even worse candidate that Hillary--and has an exponentially longer record of failure. I'm a huge Trump supporter but IMHO he left way too much on the table. Reminds me of how Obama came out somewhat listless against Romney in the first 2012 debate. He needs to do a better job of defining the massive contrast between his vision and Biden's vision--which is the stale old politics of D.C. insiders enriching themselves at the expense of Main Street. Go back to the reasons he got into the race in 2015 and the ideals of his Inaugural speech. Donald needs to step up his game in the next two debates. That being said, not sure how much last night affected any votes on either side, which seem pretty baked in at this point.

Thought about this a bit more, and have concluded trump underestimated his opponent, and wound up embarrassed because of his lack of preparation. Then he embarrassed all of us with that shit show last night.

Here are some thoughtful observations of Biden’s hypocritical behavior. 'Shut up,' 'clown,' 'fool,' 'liar' -- the vile debate spewings of Joe Biden Joe Biden was in some kind of foul, putrid mode at the debate last night. Many people have cited memorable lines from the contentious political slugfest, but the lines that stand out are the grotesquely disrespectful ad hominem insults Biden directed at the president of the United States. “He’s a fool on this.” "Everybody knows he's a liar." "Will you shut up, man?" "Keep yapping, man." "He's the racist." "He's Putin's puppy." "He never keeps his word." "Well, it's hard to get any word in with this clown." "You're the worst president America has ever had." What kind of argument for 'civility' and 'decency' and 'dignity,' -- all words Biden uses ad nauseam, is that? Some kind of bottom has dropped out. Some of these insults were so disgusting they actually made viewers feel sorry for President Trump, which is frankly a feat. Trump can give as good as he gets, but he made no such ad hominems comparable to those. There was one part of the debate where he called Biden 'not smart,' but at least he had some academic records to back it up with. In fact, in all of his oppositional statements to Biden, he had some kind of fact, he wasn't just pulling disembodied insults out as Biden did. Biden had no such backing for his insults, some of the most disgusting words hurled at a president of the United States to his face ever heard. Our worst enemies talk like that - think Nicolas Maduro, Iran's mullahs, or Kim Jong Un, pre-peace talks. Which ultimately amounts to insults to the voters. www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/09/shut_up_clown_fool_liar__the_vile_debate_spewings_of_joe_biden.html

Then he embarrassed all of us with that shit show last night. Not sure I agree with this - I think both were an absolute embarrassment. Ben Shapiro described it best: “it was a debate between Chewbacca and the Swedish Chef.”

President Trump happy with the debate. Trump claims debate victory over Biden: 'I held Joe accountable for his 47 years of lies'
'I really enjoyed last night's debate with Sleepy Joe,' he said "Last night, I did what the corrupt media has refused to do. I held Joe Biden accountable for his 47 years of lies, 47 years of betrayal, and 47 years of failure. I held Joe accountable for shipping your jobs and dreams abroad, and for bowing to the violent mob at home," he said. www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-debate-victory-biden-accountable

In reality what stood out for most people was trump's bad behavior...so much so that the rules will be changed for the next debate.

He simply needs to focus like a laser on Joe's record, which is utterly indefensible. I think Trump focusing like a laser is an oxymoron. I don't recall any indications that he's capable of doing that. His stream of thinking (and speaking) is like a butterfly in a strong wind.

His long list of accomplishments confirm it.

C-SPAN's Steve Scully was a former intern to Joe Biden and also worked as an assistant to--wait for it--Ted Kennedy. Good thing he was born with testicles; any woman with that employment record like that would likely be dead by now.
Oh, and he also wrote an Anti-Trump Op-Ed for the NYT in 2016. I'm sure he'll display no bias.....

A couple of things that popped into my head today that were debate related -
1) Jake Tapper said that a friend of theirs young daughter left the room crying during the debate. Bullshit. Who in the world subjects their child to watching a presidential debate? 99.9 % of kids under the age of 12 don't give a shit about politics. The .1% who do are so nerdy & mature that they would never just start crying while watching it. I'm surprised the friend didn't add that as her daughter left the room in tears, her last words were she hoped that the next SCOTUS was chosen by the winner of the election. Lying liberals will say anything.
2) Meetings with other foreign leaders can get contentious, not unlike the debate. Notice how when Trump would interrupt, he would often use Bidens first name and make a sharp criticism of the point being made in order to halt it in its tracks. That is how people in a stressful situation deal with each other if their goal is to solve the problem & not exacerbate it. Compare that to Biden, calling Trump a clown or telling him to shut up. Face to face, those are the words of a very stupid man who takes a tense situation and makes it worse. Biden can not communicate with a strong, powerful person face to face. He doesn't have that skill set.
