The people aren't going to vote Republican. We'll just get another Blue Governor who will continue the same BS. Bingo. Thank you, frog. The days of thinking we can recall someone out of office (or drain the swamp) and the result will certainly be something better are probably behind us. |

The point of recalling Newsom is not to replace him with a Republican--that will not happen in California in 2021. His replacement would surely be another Democrat, unlike when Gray Davis was recalled in 2003 and the Democrat candidate to replace him was Cruz Bustamante. Recalling Newsom--or any office holder--sends a clear message to politicians of all parties that gross abuses of power will not be tolerated by the people--and is a necessary defense against despotism. The real possibility of a recall alone should be enough for him to step back from turning the screws on the lockdowns. Believe me, a guy with his ambition does not want to end up as another Gray Davis. If kids aren't back in schools soon, restaurants remain closed, and CIF again cancels sports, I think the anger underneath the surface in California will boil over on to his head. |

I think the point of recalling any politician is to remove him from office. In this case, the votes just aren't there.

Newsom seems to realize that he is in deep trouble. Just out this morning via Fox News: California Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to make an announcement on Monday lifting his state's COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, which would allow for restaurants to reopen for outdoor dining, according to multiple reports.
The order will be lifted in all regions of the state, according to a letter sent from the California Restaurant Association (CRA) to its members.
The letter, dated on Sunday, said senior officials in the Newsom administration confirmed the upcoming decision with the association.

It only takes about 1.5 million voters to get a recall on the ballot. But California has 4.7 million Republicans and almost 9 million Democrats. So Newsom ain't going anywhere. And even if he were removed, it's likely some other braindead leftwing empty suit like Antonio Villaraigosa would get voted in to replace him. |
