I know he is loud and can be obnoxious. But so what! So am I. I'll vote for him. I don't think DeSantis should run now.
My brother doesn't like Trump. I asked "why"? Because he is loud and obnoxious. So what!!! I am not looking for a wife. I am looking for someone to put our interests first. Someone that can make our world better. He can do it.

It's not that he's loud and obnoxious, bill. When we vote for a president, we don't just vote for a candidate's policies. We vote for the man, the entire package, especially when his policies are not significantly different from those of the other contenders. We vote for his character, his integrity, his truthfulness, his empathy, his maturity, and his ability to put the country and its citizens ahead of himself. Donald Trump doesn't have an ounce of any of those qualities.
The Democrats' chances of retaining the presidency just went up by 50%.

He actually seemed low-key, and likeable. I wonder how long he can keep that up.

Just when you think Donald Trump can't possibly do anything more childish and bizarre, he comes out with Donald Trump trading cards, where he's buffed out to look like some kind of Marvel superhero. And he's selling the packs for $99.
His descent into total clownhood is now complete.

So you agree he's just a grifter? He may be part grifter but he was one successful President, attitude, childishness aside.

Donald Trump was useful in reversing some of the momentum of the headlong rush into mindless, incoherent leftist ideology. He introduced a little reality into the political system with a commonsense understanding that yes, we do need borders, no we cannot provide everything to everybody all over the world and we cannot give everybody a free ride. To most of us this was all intuitive but to an influential minority it was not. The tactics utilized by the authoritarian left was disgraceful in trying to discredit his administration with obviously farcical legal proceedings. But it happened, it's over and I hope nobody ever stoops to those tactics again on either side.
But Donald Trump is nothing but a hopelessly divisive anchor at this point. He is a loose cannon, he is erratic, he is occasionally ridiculous and under no conditions should he be the leader of a major country. You may say "Sure he's a bastard, but he's our our bastard." This is the naive philosophy of the individual who looks at politics and diplomacy as a zero sum game in which you either win all or you lose all. It's fine for a head coach, but this is no way to lead the most powerful country and there is no chance he would be successful. If he is nominated he would lose even to a pathetic Joe Biden and he will cost the Republicans the White House for another 4 years at least. This is a nation of 330+ million people and you must have the ability to unify to be able to lead...............Luca

You may say " Sure he's a bastard, but he's our our bastard." This is the naive philosophy of the individual who looks at politics and diplomacy as a zero sum game... Thank you, Luca, well said. That is the kind of blind support that I've opposed on forums like this one and in a hundred face-to-face conversations in the last 6+ years. To me, those are the utterings of a cultist. I have to believe there were Germans who said the same thing about Hitler in the 1930's, and there were members of the People's Temple who said the same about Jim Jones. One has to be able to separate the policies from the person, and not place the person in the superior position. A candidate like Ron DeSantis has almost all the policy positives of a Donald Trump without any of the childish personality negatives. Unfortunately, there are millions of rabid supporters who still believe only Trump can lead the holy war against the leftist infidels. They are wrong, and unless their minds can be changed, whoever is the Democratic presidential candidate in two years will retain the White House for the left.

I like De Santis better, but if it comes down to Romney or Jeb vs Trump. I pick Trump.

I like De Santis better, but if it comes down to Romney or Jeb vs Trump. I pick Trump. And that's a rational position, but it won't come down to that. Romney and Jeb have as much chance of being the GOP nominee as AOC and Adam Schiff. The point is that there are a half dozen serious contenders for the nomination who share almost all of Trump's policy positions but don't have any of his turn-off assholiness. We can only hope that this latest trading card buffoonery finally puts him out to pasture.

This is a nation of 330+ million people and you must have the ability to unify to be able to lead...............Luca Thus the disfunctional country we have become. Question, is that for lack of unifying leaders or simply a populous whom no longer wants to be unified? Who in your opinion the last unifying leader? And better yet whom of any of the handful of real candidates at this point is a unifier? We may be at the point of no return, it would seem to take at this point a catastrophic global event to bring this nation back together.
